This is so true. Being the oldster than I am, I remember the days of reliably good fried chicken and burgers and it was a LONG time ago.Never tasted it but I’ve come to the conclusion that a lot of people don’t remember what fried chicken tastes like soooo they’ll take any substitute that will keep them from spending time in the kitchen.
They also don’t recall what a hamburger should taste like…..
Yes but what do you remember, KFC or do you go as far back as Chicken Delite? Also, tastes change. I’m sure people alive before us were like “that’s not fried chicken” about what we remember too.
Nothing wrong with the concept just the application as currently devised by the (and I use the term lightly) food industry.Fast food by the very concept is meant to be fast. If you actually have time for the kitchen you're not going to just go purchase fast food instead. It's meant for convenience, used to be more cost but we all know how that's gone in recent years and its portability. No need to knock this concept.
This thread is not about cooking in the kitchen vs buying fast food, we know you love to cook but no need to make it about what you're making it about. But if you'd like to create a thread about best recipes for chicken that take X amount of time go for it! I'm sure people would find some helpful hints for the nights they are looking to cook at home.Nothing wrong with the concept just the application as currently devised by the (and I use the term lightly) food industry.
Quite easy to make food fast without all the excess “stuff”.
I think that's part of it as well especially as lives change. Also, tastes change. I’m sure people alive before us were like “that’s not fried chicken” about what we remember too.
Of course they shift! That's what makes conversations happen. But it's all together different when you pop onto a thread when you haven't eaten, used, done, whatever the thread is about in eons only to interject a not subtle insult. That's not about tangents which are great thing to have and I'm always behind having.Threads detail and have side conversations all the time... no need to police people on what they can and can't post, MC-M.
Yes, I like to cook but that’s not the point. I think people should be more concerned about WHAT they consume. Were there better mass produced food I could understand the want to buy it already made. I don’t believe that is generally the case. This thread is not about cooking in the kitchen vs buying fast food, we know you love to cook but no need to make it about what you're making it about. Oh and I’m not insulting anyone, subtlety or not.Of course they shift! That's what makes conversations happen. I see problems from the top of the chain down but am particularly concerned about the fast food segment of the industry.
And yes I am passionate on the subject but try not to shove my thoughts down anyone else’s throat. Eat what you like and hope you enjoy it with grace.
