I suppose it wasn't boring because it involved an earthquake, Hurricane Sandy, and swamp fires. However, it solidified that I never need to live or visit the state of Virginia again. I apologize to all who love it or call it home. It was just bad timing.
We went down to see Colonial Williamsburg (lovely/had a nice time) and there was an earthquake closer to Richmond which we actually felt the vibrations while in a gift shop.
We also visited Virginia Beach and felt a little bored. We got to the Air&Space museum and it was amazing. Got a personal tour from an old vet and the museum sent me a huge box of supplies to use while I was teaching in school. However, this was where swamp fires in North Carolina apparently wafted to where we were staying and I woke to the smell of fire in my room. The front desk told me "there was a fire down the street." Only the next day did someone explain how many miles and miles away that was.
We went to Smithfield to just check out the factory and the small town. Ended up having to leave in the middle of the night because of Hurricane Sandy. Torrential rain, crazy winds, but we took an inland route home to NY and it all worked out.
No, I never want to go back again.
