What is the most boring vacation you have been on?

Spending a week in northern wi with in laws in a cottage. Talk about boring. Nothing to do. Oh I forgot about cleaning cooking and making beds. I can do Thst at home. We did that for years. Finally I had enough and said no more

None were boring. We visited my Dad’s large family in Texas every other summer from the time I was 8 years old until I got married at 18. I loved those vacations. Loved spending time with all my cousins, and those were the only times I ever got to see and hug my grandmother. We always culminated the vacation with a huge family reunion. Wonderful memories.

Vacations since getting married have never been boring. We love sightseeing the areas, relaxing, trying new restaurants, even the road trip if we are driving. We always find something to do no matter where we are.

I manage to avoid going on any vacation I expect to be boring destination wise, and as a kid we always had fun but my Dad was all about having a good time.

I'd have to say without being specific that I don't enjoy large extended-family vacations. You virtually lose all control from location, to lodging to dining. Often the days end up VERY long, the trip even longer. At this point now, I don't see me doing any of these again.

I didn't go on vacations until well into adulthood. I can't think of any that I found boring at all.

Worst vacation ever:
- When I was a teen (and admittedly not at my best)
- A long weekend with my mother's work friends' families -- no one I knew except my four siblings
- In a big beach house something like 6 blocks from the beach
- At a no restaurants, no shopping, no entertainment beach, no pool type of beach
- And all us kids had to sleep in sleeping bags on the living room floor -- with mom's friends walking through the room during the night

Any of the vacations with my in-laws where we spend the day doing crossword puzzles and staring at each other until I can’t take it anymore and my husband and I head out on our own to do something, anything. I do not understand driving hours (once 13 each way!) to a rental house costing a pretty penny just to sit inside all day. You can stay home and stare at four walls for a lot less money and effort. They’re nice people but, ugh, vacationing with them is a bore. :faint:

I don't know that I'd describe it as "boring," but Yellowstone was definitely our worst vacation. I'm allergic to cedar and found I couldn't go inside many buildings - like restaurants, etc.
We were camping in KOA cabins the whole trip and I ended up sleeping in the car most of the trip. My son was bitten by a buffalo gnat and had a pretty alarming reaction resulting in an urgent care visit that meant a two hour drive watching him swell. Our car kept breaking down all through the Grand Tetons. My allergies were so heightened that even as we left cedar country, any kind of wood was bothering me. I'd been to Yellowstone as a kid and am pretty used to dealing with my crazy allergies so I really didn't anticipate the difficulty. We still had a good time overall, but we all still laugh when we talk about that vacation!

I don't know about being a boring vacation overall, but there have been times where I was bored out of my mind for a day or two because of part of a vacation.

Once when I was younger I was on a visit to a relative's place, but somehow we got stuck in the house while nearly everyone else was gone. So all I had there was a TV (before web browsing) and the family dog, which was also left there without food for a day. Then I got yelled at for feeding the dog the wrong thing, even though it had nothing to eat for over a day. But for the most part I could really go anywhere. We had food, but no car and no key, so we couldn't go out. Parts of that trip were more interesting. I'm pretty sure that we went to Disneyland.

Once it was on a visit to Australia where we went with a family friend to visit (I think) some place called the Blue Mountains that was fairly close to Sydney. I was kind of jet lagged and ended up sleeping in the car but I had no idea where we were when I waked up. All I remember is that somehow they gave up and we had fish and chips. But that felt like one heck of a wasted day.

Going to visit my grandparents in the Midwest. Lived in a super small town, nothing to do but stare at the walls. We'd get scolded for playing and making noise. Had to endure miserable church services on every trip and the church didn't have air conditioning. Then after church, long "Sunday drives" for hours to drive around to the same places they showed us on every visit.

It was miserable.

I can’t think of any vacation I’ve taken that was really boring. When I was little, my parents used to rent a cottage for a week in the summer with my aunt and uncle (who didn’t have any children). I guess that might have been a little boring for me, but I really don’t remember it that way. Eventually, my mother declared that going to a cottage was not a vacation for her. She was still cooking and cleaning. So, we started taking real vacations. Trips to Florida, Williamsburg, etc.

Vacation is my favorite thing!

I've only vacationed at the beach and at Disney. I love the beach, so it is Disney.

I also bicycle tour, but there's not a single moment of boredom in those.

Maine(no offense to the people of Maine). We knew friends who lived outside of Portland so we went there for a few days. Aside from the day with our friends and the day in Portland (really a charming little town), it was boring. I don’t even remember what else we did besides those two things.

I suppose it wasn't boring because it involved an earthquake, Hurricane Sandy, and swamp fires. However, it solidified that I never need to live or visit the state of Virginia again. I apologize to all who love it or call it home. It was just bad timing.

We went down to see Colonial Williamsburg (lovely/had a nice time) and there was an earthquake closer to Richmond which we actually felt the vibrations while in a gift shop.

We also visited Virginia Beach and felt a little bored. We got to the Air&Space museum and it was amazing. Got a personal tour from an old vet and the museum sent me a huge box of supplies to use while I was teaching in school. However, this was where swamp fires in North Carolina apparently wafted to where we were staying and I woke to the smell of fire in my room. The front desk told me "there was a fire down the street." Only the next day did someone explain how many miles and miles away that was.

We went to Smithfield to just check out the factory and the small town. Ended up having to leave in the middle of the night because of Hurricane Sandy. Torrential rain, crazy winds, but we took an inland route home to NY and it all worked out.

No, I never want to go back again.

One reason my sister and I started doing our own Disney trips was because the extended family we traveled with enjoyed spending time relaxing at the hotel and it drove us both nuts. I can't do relaxing vacations, it just feels like a waste of time to me.

This saddens me because I love Williamsburg. I do recommend trying to go back there again. But I also don’t blame you for never wanting to escape a beach in a hurricane ever again

Don't worry, I would definitely take my kids when they get a tad older to experience the history. I guess I would pay attention to the weather more closely ;-)

Busch Gardens and Water Country USA are also a lot of fun-and they have a sad and street area now which wasn’t there when I was a child! It’s definitely one of my fave places!

Went to Gulf Shores for a week in April a few years ago with my Mom and Sister. The weather was terrible and all Mom and Sis wanted to do was just sit in the condo and read. They didn't want to go anywhere on the days it was too rainy for the beach. I was up for shopping, a movie, etc. I finished the books I brought early on and I'm pretty sure I got to the end of the internet by the end of that trip.

Another day trip that went nowhere for me was when we were in San Diego and my group decided to go to Tijuana for a few hours. Except I was young and didn't have a driver licenses/state ID or passport with me. At the time they were more lenient about allowing people to enter with minimal documentation. I think even a birth certificate (showing birth in the US sufficient for automatic citizenship) would have been sufficient for a minor. My dad stayed with me and I think we had lunch at McDonald's. And I'm pretty sure it was THAT McDonald's.

I've been on other day trips where I was bored out of my mind. There was another trip to San Diego when I was older and it was just mind-numbingly boring with nothing really to do. We didn't go to the beach and and the most we did was maybe just got to a city park.
