tree nut free dessert for Thanksgiving

That sounds so good! - thanks for the link :goodvibes

Make the above, but crush the graham crackers, and layer it in mini cupcake papers?

Kids and adults do love it. And it can be made ahead and as you described

Dirt cake is similar and also a hit with kids and adults.

It can be made a day ahead prepared in small individual cups and decorated for fall

Pumpkin pie ice cream pie...

Use a graham cracker crust. Softened Haagan Daz vanilla pint of ice cream mixed with 1/3-1/2 jar Libby's Pumpkin Pie filling (depending how much pumpkin your crew likes) and caramel sauce (depending how sweet you like it b/c you will also top with this) to taste. Fill crust and refreeze. When serving, drizzle with more caramel sauce (zig zag per slice) and top with a dollop of real whipped cream.

These can also probably be done in those mini Keebler graham crusts - just fill to the right level - I can't tell you how many you'd get b/c I haven't done it...

If your goal is the make the kids happy - have you considered rice krispies treats? You can also mix sprinkles or flavored chips into the cereal before you mix the melted marshmallows in, or use a food coloring in the marshmallows. One time we made a dish of them, then as a sort of frosting melted chocolate chips and spread it on top, so there was a thin layer of chocolate.

Getting a bit ahead of myself, but if you are going to need a Christmas recipe for a similar situation, there are a bunch of cereals with red and green options right now. (rice crispies included, but you can make those treats with other types)

  • 1 (3.4 ounces) box of Instant Vanilla Pudding
  • 1 ½ Cup Eggnog
  • ½ Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg (nutmeg is a seed, not a nut)
  • 8 ounces whipped cream (original recipe called for cool whip. I used real whipped cream, eyeballed the volume to use by looking at an 8oz container of cool whip)
I used a small cupcake pan. Put a liner in each cup, then put a nilla wafer in the paper (you could do graham cracker crust, I was making a LOT so looking for ease/quickness- just make sure whatever you use is nut-free). Mix the pudding, eggnog, and nutmeg until it starts to thicken. Then fold in the whipped cream. Spoon into the individual cups and chill. I might have sprinkled nutmeg or cinnamon on top... or put a dollop of whipped cream on each and then nutmeg (I've made these a couple of times).

This also works as a pie filling... I'd use the larger size pudding mix and use eggnog instead of the milk called for. This is what I did last year for Thanksgiving and the resident 8 year old has requested that we have this again this year.

I actually thought of fruit. I thought the adults might appreciate it after a heavy meal. But it felt like I wasn't even trying regarding the competition.

I need ideas for a relatively easy tree nut free dessert to bring to thanksgiving.
I know it's too late for this year's feast, but next time you might want to consider Kozy Shack rice [or chocolate] pudding and a can of whipped cream. It's also GF!
