I was at VGC a week ago on the ground floor. The first day, the windows were uncovered and the workers had set up a break area on the patio. The following day had plastic on the windows. It was all fine. This was related to exterior painting.

They were doing a refurb on the 2nd floor. A bit of extra noise starting around 8:30, but it was also fine.

I have not yet seen photos of the refurbished rooms.

There have been photos here, on the DVC fan site, and on Facebook.

The workers had a break area on YOUR patio?! That's nuts.

We were there for three nights last week in a 1BD. The front desk told us at check-in that because of all the scaffolding, none of the balconies was operational. But when we got to your room, our balcony worked! It was on the third floor facing the pool. The scaffolding also was not in front of us, so I was relieved.

Also, the room also had its refresh. We were pleasantly surprised to see the new murphy-style bed instead of the sofa bed.

Any chance you’d be willing to send those pictures to Member Services and ask what they are going to do to refurbish the bathrooms?

I’ve tried contacting members services about the bathrooms about 3 times now. I get the same response each time… we are sorry you are disappointed with the renovation and we will forward your concerns to somone else… who I’ve never heard back from.

Hopefully feedback from a larger number of members who have stayed there will lead to more clarity.

Would be nice if DVC fan did a video on this. I’m sure Disney pays attention to them.

They wrote an article about it, but I’m sure a room tour will be after the refurb is finished so they know they will be staying in a refurbished room.

Oh, I’m not sure if it was mentioned. I had dinner at the grand Californian on Friday… I was walking around a bit while I was waiting for my reservation. The outdoor patio on the fifth floor is officially closed and boarded off.. that’s the patio that they’re closing in to make a concierge’s lounge

I’m kind of sad about this. There’s another smaller patio on the other end of the lobby on the fifth floor. That’s always locked… I wonder if they could potentially open that patio up for guests since they closed the other one. I always kind of wondered why they had that one closed off. It’s at the front of the hotel so maybe they don’t want arriving guest to see people up there or something. I don’t know… might be cool if they opened up that one in exchange for the other one though.

Happy to finally get a gift we’ll actually use - we’re going to throw them in our owner’s locker this weekend! We were also gifted the new demented Dumbo magnet.

In other VGC news, our new guide found 150 direct points. They’re still only offering calendar points I believe he called it (so just Feb and March UYs). I was tempted to bump up our March UY contracts, but eventually decided to hold out for the June UY points I really have been looking for. Just another FYI to hound your guides with the recent buybacks if you’re wanting direct VGC….

They are definitely working through that VGC waitlist…. nice way to make VDH look less expensive upfront too.

I’m checking in on Sunday and had requested 5504/6504 as I usually do, but I’m having second thoughts after seeing the pictures above, and I’d rather have any view at all that’s at least not plastic. Wish I had booked VDH this trip. Thanks to anyone with any current information!

As I mentioned above, we had a room with balcony access and no scaffolding. It was room 3507. I would ask for anything facing the pool side for your best bet. I also am assuming that the scaffolding has not moved to that location since last week! Good luck!

On Friday it looked like the whole DVC wing other than the pool view was covered. It could all change at any time though. Sounds like it’s been like this for 3-4 weeks already. I’m not sure how long the painting will take.

They could put scaffolding up on the pool side at any time… so anything is a risk at this point… unless the pool side has been done already?

We were in 6502, the 1 bedroom next to 6504, about a week ago. We had no plastic covering the view (I posted pics last week), but scaffolding was present making the balcony unusable.

We were in 5502 this past weekend and the plastic is officially up along with the scaffolding. Avoid if you can.

Ugh. So glad we went to WDW for Spring Break this year and pushed DL to Summer and Fall.
