The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Owners & Lovers Group - 3.0

Curiousā€¦šŸ¤” they released 1 bedroom availability maybe just for 1 villa from late February through April. Teenage drama had ensued, and I was checking for DL availability during our spring break. I thought I was going to have to bite the bullet and book ā€œspecialā€ rooms at VDH but was able to grab some nights at VGC with my cheapie leftover Aulani points šŸ˜…

Anyhow, if youā€™re looking for a last minute 1 bedroom at VGC in the next three months, check fast!
I just switched my Feb 20th stay from VDH to VGC 1bd.

Say goodbye, TOT!

The VGC rooms wonā€™t even use a lot of lumber concrete and drywallā€¦ theyā€™re not doing a full gut job
A full refurbishment is supposed to be taken down to the studs.

Drywall, flooring and appliances are all supposed to be replaced.

In recent full refurbs the thermostat has been replaced as I assume they have been replacing the HVAC system as well.

Still weird to me that they put the carpet down as either they will have to take it back up or protect it from drywall mess.

Thats definitely not what they have been doing in other ā€œhardā€ refurbs latelyā€¦.

Both Boulder ridge and boardwalk did.
HHI also did that.
Not sure about the BLT one that is going on now but I assume they are doing that.
I donā€™t think they replaced any of the kitchen cabinets at Boardwalkā€¦. What makes you think they tore the rooms down to the studs?

They were replaced at BWV. The old ones had a vertical rib style, the new ones are flat w/trim around the edges.

ETA: They could have just replaced the doors on the cabinets and left the rest as is.

Are you talking about just the cabinet doors or the entire cabinets?

Nm. I didnā€™t see the ETA at first.

I could be wrong but I thought the entire cabinet was replaced.

I know for sure the took the little bar off the back of the sink area and removed the chairs.

BCV was a soft refurb so they didn't replace the cabinets there.
BLT cabinets certainly look to be replaced but they could be just a face lift as they left the large sliding pantry door thing.

I saw that the direct price for VGC is going from $310 to $330. (Sorry if this is being discussed elsewhere, I'm horrible at keeping up on all the threads.)

Do you guys think this means they will start buying contracts back during ROFR??

They bought back at least one earlierā€¦. so perhaps occasionally. Probably in the low $200s, but not in the mid $200sā€¦.

I think drywall is mostly just in the bathrooms and wherever else itā€™s needed. There really isnā€™t any need to remove drywall in most of the room. I do want a nice referb, but I also donā€™t want them wasting money and time on somthing that is not at all necessary.
