I love this! Years ago, DH and I dressed as Hades and Meg for an MNSSHP. I bought a blue Troll wig and spray painted the tips silver. It looked great!

After the W&D 5K, I’m never running in a wig again!

I think I can just do some flame shapes on a sweatband or something that will let most of my head breathe.

That's what I'm thinking. I've still got lots of sticky felt, or I can get some foam--I've got 2 JoAnn's nearby that I could hit up for discounted supplies

Bolder/Sparkle Skirts has officially closed up shop. However, it appears that one of the sewists that worked for them has been given the "rights" to the skirt patterns and has an independent shop. As far as I know it's only on FB, but the shop is "Run Chic by Sherry."

So I didn’t want to jinx it (I only get to do RunDisney periodically) so I’ve watched (stalked) the Haunted Mansion CM run costume at iglow running for years without buying it. But we scored Dopey registrations this morning and now she’s stopped making it! Of course! She would have to special order a smaller quantity of fabric, passing the cost on to me. Before I confirm with her, what other shops do y’all recommend? I’ve seen the Tutu Factory ones on Etsy and they’re maybe not for me.

The iglowrunning stuff is great. DH and I have Donald/Daisy shirts from her and they're very well made.

If you're open to purchasing *used* I think that putting an ISO out on the various rundisney b/s/t groups you'd likely be able to find one.

Have you looked at Kawaiian Pizza Apparel? I have one Athletic T-Shirt from them that I really like. I also have a sport skort that is okay, but doesn’t quite fit me as well as I would like, but they were great with getting me exact dimensions of it before I purchased it.
I think the fit comes from my wearing Bolder Athletic skirts all the time, and it just doesn’t fit the same. I think my choice now would be to buy a skirt without shorts and wear my own shorts underneath.

I've purchased several Tutu Factory tutus but I do wear them with pieces from elsewhere. I'm not a fan of their tops as they use a cheap base material that stretches out of shape easily.

I have some older costumes from iglow running back before she blew up and they are great quality, well worth the cost. I agree you can probably find those pieces on the resale market.

I make a lot of my own costumes by buying athletic gear in the right colors and customizing with my Cricut, a glue gun or simple sewing. But I've also used tops from Kawaii Pizza Apparel when I just don't want to deal with that. They are a bit thick/heavy for me, so if it's hot I try to avoid them, but they look great in photos and make it obvious who you are trying to dress as.

Here is an athletic dress from her universe. It has shorts with built in pockets attached. I have it and i like it alot. “How can I use the bathroom while wearing this?” is always one of the first questions you should ask when putting a costume together

So…I went a bit beyond what I originally planned. And my head is probably going to be hotter in this than a wig, but at least it’s absorbent?

I still need to finish attaching the lights, and actually attaching everything to the hat, but I should have that finished tomorrow or Saturday. I wish I could post a video easily so I could show the flickering of the fairy lights.

I finally got my Hades hat finished! It's reasonably comfortable, for a winter hat with 3 AA batteries in the back and 33 feet of wire and fairy lights, plus a bunch of bits of foam sheets, attached to it.

Yes, I acknowledge the irony. I think this will be marginally better, if only because it's absorbent.
