Can you still buy date based tickets, and then later change the dates on them (and pay the price difference if there is one)?

@kmermaid any chance this ticket had the "no expiration" option added at the time of purchase? Those tickets must be used as-is because there is nothing in the current ticketing system to account for the extra paid for "no expire."
The tickets that I was asking about do not have "no expiration" added. On the tickets it doesn't say the are Magic Your Way base tickets but that is what the ticket person called them in my email. I will take them with me on my trip next month and see what they say in person.

Has anyone calculated an estimate of how long before using an AP would make it make more sense to renew versus buy a new pass? For example, say your AP expires January 15, but you're not going again until May 15. Since it's 4 months before you'd use it, you might as well buy a new one, since you would only have 8(12-4) months on a renewal. However, If your next trip is February 15, a renewal gives you 11 months, making it worthwhile. I'm assuming there's some sort of "cutoff date" to make one or the other the better choice. Anyone know?

Magic Your Way were the regular tickets sold from maybe 2004 until 2017.
Yeah getting conflicting information. One of the tickets I sent in to get information they stated it was a 6-day Magic Your Way Base ticket (bought in 2014) that was upgraded into Disney Sorcerer Pass. Now I believe I did use this ticket to upgrade in Jan 2024. So it looks like I can upgrade. I will have to take all my questions directly to a ticket cast member next month.

It probably depends on when your additional trips to WDW are scheduled. If you're not going until May, but have 2 other trips scheduled before expiration, then it's probably worth it. We do our calculation based on how many park days we anticipate doing during a 12-month period. So would you potentially do more days Jan-Jan or May-May? You should have an answer, keeping in mind the new AP will cost more than renewal....

I have a question for DVC members who call in to MS to buy a sorcerer's pass over the phone.
Does anyone know how that purchase codes on credit cards? I can get 4% cashback if it codes as "travel" but only one percent back if it codes as "entertainment" or something like that.
Any help would be really appreciated so I can decide which credit card to use.

I have a package with date based tickets in June but an opportunity just presented itself with a 1 day trip in July. I have 2 days left from a 10 non-expiring ticket that I plan on using for July. Making a July park reservation won’t cause any of my June package tickets to take away from my non-expiring days will it?
