The Running Thread --2025

January Running
Runs: 17
Miles: 59.41
Avg HR: 139
Avg Pace: 10:31

I'm (mostly) back! November I managed 1.5 miles due to ear infections, pneumonia, pleural effusion, and norovirus.

December, I was able to get back on the treadmill without coughing and gasping for air. I managed 31.9 miles that month, then got a slighter less prolific version of the norovirus on Christmas Eve.

But, January was good. All on the treadmill.

January Walking
Walks: 2
Distance: 1.73
Time: 0:36:15

So cold and snowy! We don't have sidewalks (or a road that is plowed very well), so January was mainly a bust for walking. February is starting off nicely though!

January Strength Training
Sessions: 11
Time: 4:21:16

My goal for 2025 was to start back to strength training, and I stayed on track throughout all of January! The real problem starts in softball season, but my kids will be on the same rec softball team this year, so I can cut my evenings at the field in half (hopefully).

ATTQOTD:
Olympics, and Barkley Marathons.

I'll casually check in with the world majors, but the whole "thing" with Barkley is just fascinating from the skills needed to navigate, the training, the sleep deprivations, the mini documentaries that come out from it...the stories about runners being found well off-course talking to trashcans....it holds my attention well. I also love that it's a "race" about FINISHING, and even the DNFs are generally pretty incredible feats.

ATTQOTD: London Marathon Ran it twice over 20 years ago and would love to do so again.

The coverage is on for over 5 hours on the BBC and it’s traditional in our house to watch it all from the elite coverage to the later hours hearing all the stories of the causes people are running for charity for.

ATTQOTD: I'm sure this won't be a popular answer, but as a general rule if I'm not running in a race I don't care about it or follow it. The only slight variation on this would be that I do loosely follow along with RunDisney race weekends to see if there are any changes being made that might impact my next RunDisney weekend.
Same. I follow along here to hear about how you guys did during a rD race, but otherwise I don't know when the other races happen, who won, what happened, etc. Other than football and baseball, I'm a poor spectator.
