NO Judy's!!! ;)

Now, going back to get all caught up on what I missed over Thanksgiving..... :rolleyes1

No, I'm not kidding. There's more to the story than just a sledge-o-matic. You can read about it on his Wikipedia page, but long-story short, he allowed his younger brother to do some touring using his act, but it was just supposed to be small venues. As you can imagine, it got out of control and lawyers had to get involved and there was a lot of family strife.

Oh brother :sad2:

Thankgiving is on a thursday right? That's why Black Friday is on a friday? I'm just not sure.... Our Thanksgiving is on a monday so we get a long weekend.

So Yuki, what's the story behind Canadian Thanksgiving? I'm curious :confused3

To be honest.....I don't think we ever had some sort of history lesson about it....it was just about harvest, and since I went to a Catholic school, it was about being thankful for what God gives us.

We definitely got ripped off because you guys get TWO days off, but we only get ONE!

Thanks, Glenn that actually makes me feel much better. :thumbsup2

Good! The DIS is great for pointing out all the things about Disney that you would probably miss.

NO Judy's!!! ;)

You're right again Marv. Too bad this wasn't in response to a new chapter being posted.

That shouldn't take long!

The indians and the settlers got together and ate Tim Horton's doughnuts and played hockey.

It's that darned exchange rate rearing its ugly head again!

I know, I know! Well, you know....with every passing minute the chance of a new update increases. Whatever that means.

:lmao:

Here's a random thought: they say that Jim Brown (iconic football player for Syracuse and the Cleveland Browns) was an even better lacrosse player than a football player.

That's acceptable. We LOOOVE our Tim's :lovestruc

Oh I know. My wife's hometown is getting one, so maybe I'll be able to get some Tim Horton's coffee when we visit the in-laws.

Thanks for checking in here Rosie!

Huh, I wouldn't have thought there'd be so many bachelor parties this time of year. ;)

Just kidding. Don't let the "stuff" get in the way of enjoying the holiday. You are waaaay ahead of us in the wrapping department -- we won't even think about that until a day or two ahead of time.

Hi Glenn!

Good morning Wheels!

Hi Glenn, I just saw in the local news here that the Nuremberg "Christkindl" who is the "mascot" of the Nuremberg Christmas Market was in Philadelphia last week to open the Christmas Market there. Philadelphia is close to where you live, isn't it? :goodvibes

Christkindl actually means baby Jesus, but in German tradition it is more an angel-like figure with long golden curls and wings. In many areas of Germany the Christkindl brings the Christmas tree and Christmas presents on Christmas Eve. But only Nuremberg has one you can actually meet! I knew that Chicago normally has the Christkind to open their German Christmas Market and it looks like Philadelphia wanted to have that as well. :thumbsup2

Interesting! Somewhere in the deep dark recesses, it seems like I might have heard that somewhere before, but can't be sure.

Speaking of football, are you following any of the bowl projections for PSU?? Any chance you will be following them to their bowl destination? Quite a few of them have PSU facing South Carolina, mainly the Outback and Capital One bowls. Since we will already be at Kidani over New Years, I will probably get tickets if it is one of those two. Of course, if we knock off Auburn this Saturday, I may have to make a side trip to New Orleans on the way home and try to catch the Sugar Bowl.......

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: Kinda gives new meaning to the term "Rosie the Pole/Lap Dancing Escort!" :rolleyes1

Yes, Philadelphia is not too far. I fly out of that airport unless I can get a better deal out of Baltimore. It'd probably take me about an hour (or maybe a little more) to get to center-city, but we don't go very often.

Interesting info. on the Christkindl. Is it an adult or a child?

I haven't been really following the projections. Just looking now, I see that it might be the Gator Bowl or Outback Bowl. No, I won't be attending -- just watching them on TV.

I couldn't resist!

Day 6 - Part 4

We left the Maharajah Jungle Trek at about 11 o’clock and started hoofing it through Asia in order to catch the 11:30 showing of the “Finding Nemo – the Musical”. This was a show we’d never seen before, so it was on the short list of things we really wanted to make sure we accomplished at Animal Kingdom this year.

As I turned the corner, I just couldn’t resist taking yet another picture of Everest. (Actually, there were a couple more also, but I like this one the best.)

IMG_3383.jpg

As we walked toward Everest, through the Anandapur area, I noticed some familiar sitar music. That means it had to be the Beatles, because I only know a handful of tunes played on the sitar, and coincidentally they’re all by the Beatles. (I’m a huge Beatles fan, by the way.) It was “Within You Without You”, George Harrison’s only song on the Sgt. Pepper album. Perhaps you remember it:
“We were talking,
about the space between us all
and the people
who hide themselves behind a wall
of illusion.
Never glimpse the truth
then it’s far too late
when they pass away”

I’m not going to follow George down the path to Eastern Mysticism, but I love some of his music. Treat yourself to his double album “All Things Must Pass” sometime. He put it out right after the Beatles broke up and it’s the backlog of stuff he’d written that never made it onto a Beatles record. It’s really good.

Well, I seem to have gotten off-topic. But suffice it to say that I was kind of surprised to hear a Beatles tune in Disney, what with copyrights and licensing issues and all. But since they needed some sitar music, where else would they look?

We arrived at the Nemo theater and the line was pretty long, but had just started moving into the building so we joined in and shuffled along.

We found some seats in the middle section, but pretty far back. But that was okay…in fact, some people say those seats are better because you don’t notice the puppeteer’s faces so much and it helps you to ignore them and focus on the show.

While we waited we broke out some chex mix and carrot sticks that we had packed. Shhh. Don’t tell anyone.

SPOILER ALERT
I didn’t title this chapter “So many Nemo pictures, it’s almost a video” for nothing. If you haven’t seen it yet, and want to experience it completely fresh on your next visit to Animal Kingdom, turn back now. You can rejoin us in my next chapter, where I ruin the safari for you, with a bunch more pictures.

I think I took a lot of pictures because it was actually kind of challenging taking pictures in there. It was a little dark (for picture-taking, don’t worry -- little kids won’t be scared) and it was kind of hard to get good, unblurry pictures.

Still with me? Okay. I affixed the zoom lens on the camera and settled in.

I loved it in the movie when I heard the “mountain” in the fishtank was called Mt. Wannahockaloogie. I wondered if one of the writers had heard that joke in their youth, like at summer camp or something.

Here’s Gill.

The cast takes a bow.

IMG_3469.jpg

So, how’d we like it? We loved it! As we left the theater, my kids, and especially Judy, were raving about it, so I was happy. Last night I asked Judy for a quote for my trip report and she said, “I loved it. I liked that the performers were dressed like the scenery, so that they blended in and you kind of forgot about them. Disney’s so smart that way.”

So there you have it.

Up next: Safari so good

We LOVE that show - and you got some great shots!
It has definitely overtaken Festival of the Lion King for best show at AK and the one "can't miss" show.
I love how, while Finding Nemo (the movie) had no music, these tunes just fit right in like they've been there all along.
And how about the size of Nigel? Isn't that insane?

The show is usually very popular.
We went last year and the 2ish show was "Sold Out" so we had to come back.
Now we try to go there for one of the 1st shows in the morning.

no judys in either post...combined zero judys.

come on marv, you should know that you have to be more specific than that.
