T.T.S's Doctor Who Series 3 Thread! Hope you had Fun! See you next Christmas!

Christmas Special information
News Dated: 1/7/2007

Viewers of last night's finale will have been treated to the title of this year's christmas special.

In the closing moments of Series Three, the Titanic of all things seemed to burst through into the TARDIS console room, to which we were treated with the now classic 'what?!' line from The Doctor.

After which came the caption: "Doctor Who will return at Christmas in: Voyage of the Damned.

Speculation has already ensued as to what and who can be expected in the special, and with potential Iceburgs, the old Ice Warrior rumours have resurfaced. Could we all be hearing the line: "Ice Warrior's, dead ahead"? Well... maybe not, but perhaps the rumours surrounding Kylie Minogue appearing in the special, may have some truth.

More news and announcements are expected to filter through this week, and according to the commentary for 3.13: Last of the Time Lords, Phil Collinson stated 'a very special guest will be announced next week'.

“On Monday there will be news about Martha Jones.

Exciting, brilliant news.”

S4: Martha leaving?
News Dated: 1/7/2007

Martha Jones, last night, bid a farewell to The Doctor - at least for the time being.

The character finally managed to tell The Doctor her true feelings about him, and how she needed to 'get out' to avoid further heartache, but promised that she would see him again.

But fans of the show are already missing Martha, as it has become obvious she will not have a major role in Series Four. Once again rumours are abound that another companion has been lined up to replace Martha. Some suggest it could be Carey Mulligan who played Sally Sparrow in 3.10: Blink.

A Press Release will be issued on Monday with 'exciting, brilliant news about Martha Jones'. Initial reports expect that Martha will be an addition to the cast for Torchwood.

DWO can confrm we have received intel that the character of Martha Jones will appear in 3 episodes of Torchwood, and will be in the second half of Series Four. A new 'mystery' companion will appear in all 13 episodes of Series Four.

ANOTHER REPORT

Confirming the essence of a story first reported several weeks ago in the Sun, Freema Agyeman left Doctor Who as a series regular at the end of this episode, choosing to remain behind with her family in present-day England. Agyeman's most recent denial in "Radio Times" stated that she was not sacked from the series, contrary to the Sun report; however, as Outpost Gallifrey and other sites have reported, the news did not deny that Agyeman was leaving as a series regular (nor that she was not remaining by her own choice).
The end of "Last of the Time Lords" suggests that we will see Martha again, as she gives her mobile phone to the Doctor (David Tennant), likely as a guest star next series; press reports from the Mirror this past week indicate that the fourth series of Doctor Who will see a new companion next year, with Martha making an occasional appearance. (At the time of the Mirror report, "Last of the Time Lords" had not yet aired, and while the article mentions she "won't be in every episode next year, but will appear in the occasional episode for both Doctor Who and Torchwood," it is likely that this was a bit of obfuscation of the as-yet-unannounced departure.)

UPDATE: Russell T Davies has promised on tonight's Confidential that there will be news soon (a possible press release early next week) about Freema's future with the programme, likely as a guest character or recurring (like John Barrowman this series).

John Barrowman also departs from Doctor Who again, as Captain Jack Harkness returns to his base of operations in Cardiff for the second series of "Torchwood" to be aired later this year.

John Simm will (obviously, from the story) not be returning as the Master in subsequent episodes; however, the theft of his ring by a woman (perhaps Lucy Saxon but possibly someone else entirely) indicates that the Master will perhaps be back in next year's episodes.

Meanwhile, the upcoming 2007 Christmas special will be entitled Voyage of the Damned and has something to do with the voyage of the R.M.S. Titanic, judging from the name of the vessel on the life ring found within the TARDIS in the close of today's episode (not to mention, the ship's hull through the walls of the console room!)

There is no word as yet as to who will join David Tennant for the episode, although there has been much media speculation about singer Kylie Minogue (we're not sure yet if these are real or simply press hype.)

David

Yes possible!!!

The Doctor has done many things I remember Peter Davison starting the great fire of London to stop a plague

ooh - the Rani would be good! But wasn't she another Timelord?

....and who better to pick up the Master's life force contained in a ring?

Mind you, I'm still awaiting an explanation on how the Master is able to regenerate having already used up all his regenerations.

Also, in the last episode, the Master "allows" himself to die whilst in the previous scene the Doctor was saying that the Master wouldn't explode all the missiles because that would kill him, and the Master doesn't want to die does he.

BBC NEWS TODAY

Relax - she's coming back, and branching out too...

While the final episode of Series Three, screened last Saturday , saw The Doctor's companion Martha leave to care for her devastated family, and to break the cycle of unrequited love she feels for The Doctor, the production team has now confirmed that the character is set to make a triumphant return in the fourth series.

Freema Agyeman is also set to join the cast of Torchwood, where she will continue to play the character in three new episodes before returning to Doctor Who in the middle of the fourth series.

As Doctor Who's Executive Producer and head writer, Russell T Davies notes: "Series three has gained outstanding reviews and Freema has been a huge part of that success, gaining rave notices for her portrayal of Martha. Now we are taking the character of Martha into brand new territory with a starring role in Torchwood".

"I can't wait to start filming on Torchwood and the new series of Doctor Who," said Freema. "It's a huge new challenge for me and I'm delighted Russell has decided to expand the character of Martha Jones.'"

The new announcement leaves a vacant space in the TARDIS. A new companion for The Doctor, who will join the new series for the entire 13 week run, will be announced shortly.

Now thats a Paradox!

The Sun, trying to save face re 'AXE'

THE BBC has confirmed Doctor Who star Freema Agyeman has been axed as the Timelord’s sidekick Martha Jones — as we predicted.

The Sun revealed bosses planned to drop her when the fourth series starts filming this month.

Now producers have confirmed the Doctor, played by David Tennant, will get a new sidekick. They said: “The announcement leaves a vacant space in the Tardis and a new companion for the Doctor in the new series.”

Freema, 27, will take Martha to BBC3 spin-off Torchwood and guest star in the new Doctor Who.

Internet rumours suggest Tom Ellis — Tom Milligan in Saturday’s finale — could be in the frame to be the new sidekick. Some 8.2million fans watched the episode.

PS Torchwood is BBC2 now.
