Going to see it this weekend. Tickets for Sunday were about halfway sold at my local dine-in theater which tracks with most ticket sales for that theater buying a couple days in advance.

Interesting. I just went and read a few of the critics’ reviews. To me the movie, the group numbers in particular, felt like a production you would see inside the Disney parks and that spoke to me. The top critics on Rotten Tomatoes are probable not Disney park fanatics like me and my fam, so they probably thought the whole thing was schmaltzy…which it was, but I love Disney schmaltz.rotten tomatoes has it at a critics score of 41% and an audience score of 71%. interesting to read the reviews-either people adore it or dislike it, almost no middle ground.

The critics loved Anora. Snow White is a family movie, which are rare. It will find its audience
We saw Reagan. Loved it
Snow White is my most favorite princess of all time - I just love her
Since my mother taught me......if you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing at alland my Dad taught me to......zip the lip
I will keep my opinions to myself if regards to the live action Snow White. Let's just say that I'm going to pretend like it doesn't exist.
Thank you for posting this link though - I'll watch it later when I'm at home and not at work.
I just saw the “Snow-White” live action movie yesterday with my daughter and two of my grandchildren. After seeing so much negativity about the film I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it. I felt Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot sang very well, although I wasn’t as impressed with the original music. The dance scenes in the beginning were happy and enjoyable, but some of the other beginning scenes dragged a bit. I enjoyed it more starting with the scene where the huntsman brings Snow-White into the forest to kill her and liked that Snow-White acted bravely when the huntsman approached her, instead of cowering in fear as in the 1937 version. It’s not that one is better than the other, it just shows a difference in personality. I preferred how the dwarfs were handled in the live action version as opposed to the animation. I liked Snow-White’s connection with Dopy in the live action. The story with the band of robbers was alright. There is an Italian version where Snow-White stays with seven robbers instead of seven dwarfs. “Whistle While You Work” with the dwarfs instead of with the animals is good. The ending with empathy winning over violence I liked. As I wrote in the original post, I planned to watch the film out of contrariness after seeing so much negativity about it and I’m glad I did. One problem I have with the fairy tale itself is the notion of there being one person who is the fairest of them all. I feel beauty is in the eye of the beholder so the fairest or the most beautiful is subjective. Also, the idea that white skin is more beautiful than dark skin. What about a fairytale called Ebony where a girl with a very dark complexion is referred to as the fairest of them all.Generally, I don’t like the idea of watching a re-make or sequels or prequals of a film and particularly I don’t like Disney’s practice of making live action versions of animated classics. I did see the live action Cinderella and Maleficent although that last one is a completely different story, and I did like the twist at the end. However, there seems to have been so much negativity about the Snow-White live action film, even before it came out, that I decided to watch it in the theater. Now, the original animated 1937 film is considered a classic, but there are certain questions about the story. First who was the evil queen and why was she so vain. Also, where did she get the magic mirror and was there a slave in the mirror. Where did the dwarfs live. What happened to Snow-White’s parents and how did the Evil Queen become Snow-White’s stepmother. Originally the Grimm brother’s story was written down in 1812, but prior to that there was a literary tale all about the Evil Queen, where she was born and how she got the mirror. This is the story of Richilde. An outline of the story can be found in the following YouTube video:. Kindly watch the other videos on that channel.
Tom,
I watched this video last night and agree with a lot of what she suggested. Not pointing out this person specifically but I do think it's funny how many reviews I've seen are shocked at how bad Gal Gadot is in this movie. She's pretty awful in almost every movie she's been in LOLProbably not going to see it. Too many reviews discuss issues with the plot and too many characters, etc. I know I would get annoyed during the film about issues like this.
I enjoyed this review, as it gives many ideas how certain things could be fixed without changing much about what Disney wants. Especially liked her comments about the Queen's magic and the mines.
