Roundup at the Fort - 2024 Fort Dismeet

If anyone wants to drop chairs off early, please feel free. Currently, the spot across from us is open. Spare parking for golf carts in the dog park. Walk through the woods and you’re at our site. Site 550. See you all soon!

Hi friends, my friend, dog and I made it in yesterday and we are in the 2500 loop in the new DVC cabins. They are such an upgrade and I love all the windows! I can't stay long tonight as my friend really wants to hit up Hollywood Studios but I brought some wine to share with you all.

Anyone around now so I can say hi? I'll bring my dog, Irish, who loves people. :-)

I’m at 2144…. First site to left in loop… I love meeting new dogs if you were going to be out and around.

You know it's a sign of growing old when you can't remember what you did yesterday .......

I did fix some eggs, pancakes, and smoked sausage for breakfast yesterday and DW pushed through some laundry. The Fort (at least in our loop) really cleared out on Sunday but we did have @jbrostek and @Part-Time Paradise roll in around us and set up so our corner of the neighborhood is good.

We went to church then stopped at the grocery on the way back to supplement what we have to get us through the rest of our stay. Didn't get to eat lunch till 2pm after which we went for a nice bike ride around the Fort, stopping at the Meadows Trading Post first.

I did my annual beer price check and a 6 pack of Bud is the same price as it was in January 2024 when we were here last, $17.75.

They have the spare tire covers in stock both Large and Small sizes for $80.

Next on our bike ride we went by @MrsPAHunter , @JETS70 , @BenitaN , @Bishoparc , and @Disneypeach campsites and EVERYONE was gone (having a good time I guess). Guess they knew we were coming.

2600 loop has had the legacy cabins pulled off and scrap debris piles remain. It's not a good look temporarily.

Dinner was at the Grand Floridan which was looking great.

The Gingerbread House was already put together in the lobby.

And we saw the pianist playing.

This morning @Sjm9911 , @jbrostek , and @4077 puzzled (it's a verb) with me and we got the movie film part mostly done.

Putt putt coming up before lunch and then making the deviled eggs this afternoon.

Beautiful day here at the Fort.

ED
See you at tomorrow's puzzle time w/ bread. Did Early Entry at MK today...tomorrow planning later start at EPCOT.

Long in my absence from a Dismeet, but following along.

Somebody feed a squirrel for me!
Afraid that feeding the little rodents goes against everything in me...but I'll do one better...keep Reba from chasing them ALL and nibbling on even one!

Missing ya, TiggerDad. Hoping to catch you around the next bend.

It was a great get-together last night at Arc's site. 42 people showed up and stayed late with good food and fellowship. I regret not getting a picture before it got dark but here is my night pic.

I give a Yuge thanks to Arc and DW for hosting.

@4077 gave us a ride back to our 2100 loop afterwards and he had a hitchhiker on board with us.

This morning after a walk in the woods,

the puzzle came out and we were joined by @4077 and @MrsPAHunter and her dog Reba. @jbrostek joined us for a while too before he went to work.

Puzzling will continue tomorrow morning. Here was our progress today.

@WalkingintheFog came by to say hello (she got into the Fort late last night). It was nice to meet her. Our agenda today is lunch sometime over at Geyser Point and then I'll bike around and take some pictures of daily Fort life and the setting here. Those are usually popular posts in the past when I've shared Fort pics. After supper I might watch some election returns :happytv: . Or I might not. :confused3

Tomorrow is our first park day (a late start) to Magic Kingdom.

I’ll add to thanking Arc and Josie for being the host for a great get together! So awesome to meet and see faces (and REAL names) to go with the DIS handles… so many people it was hard to know where to turn next, but whether just a few “hi’s” or a bit more, was glad to be able to meet just about everyone these past days and last night! Now, as you all know, the food offerings last evening were sparse :rolleyes1, and because I left feeling barely fed, I felt I needed to make a second trip to Joffrey’s at Springs from where I type this… with an oversized donut and latte and sitting at Sprinkle’s outdoor seating across from Raglan Road where I can imagine eating that food as well while enjoying a morning sugar rush

It is nice be to here at the quiet opening time in a “dessert-ed” corner with no one around to listen to the music, enjoy the treat and a light breeze in the shade… enjoy your day all!

A huge thanks to everyone who made the journey down for the meet. As Ed mentioned, I counted right at around 42. Thanks to all who made this such a huge success!

I also want to give a huge shout to my wife for hand making the custom decorations for the event as well as the nametags. Thanks to @bama_ed for providing the background ambience/music to match the Jungle Cruise theme!
