Excessive Room Checks?

That isn't acceptable either. Time to call housekeeping and have them do their job.

Does the frequency of housekeeping still go hand in hand with what level of resort you have booked? I thought deluxe resorts was daily housekeeping, but moderate and value were less often. But I could be crazy

Housekeeping Service

When you stay at a Disney Resort hotel, enjoy peace of mind knowing that your room will be thoroughly cleaned prior to your arrival and throughout your visit.

During Your Stay
You can expect housekeeping services throughout your stay. Here is the schedule:
  • Rooms at Disney Moderate and Disney Value Resorts will receive housekeeping service every other day.
  • Rooms at Disney Deluxe Resorts will receive daily housekeeping service.
  • The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort – A Disney Vacation Club Resort will receive housekeeping service every other day unless you are using Disney Vacation Club Member Points or a Member Cash Discount.
  • Rooms at other Disney Deluxe Villas will receive daily housekeeping service unless you are using Disney Vacation Club Member Points or a Member Cash Discount.
  • If you are a Disney Vacation Club Member staying at a Disney Vacation Club Resort using Member Points or a Member Cash Discount, you will receive trash and towel service on the fourth day of your visit. If you are staying more than 8 nights, you will receive housekeeping service on the fourth day of your visit and trash and towel service on the eighth day of your visit.
Looking for something different? You have a couple of options regarding your housekeeping services.
  • If you wish to decline housekeeping service at any time during your stay, you can opt out by speaking with a Cast Member in person or by placing the “Room Occupied” sign on your door. Please note that the opt out feature is no longer available during the online check-in process.
  • If you require additional housekeeping amenities or have specific housekeeping requests, please visit the Front Desk or contact Housekeeping via your in-room phone.

Disney Vacation Club

If you’re a Disney Vacation Club Member using your Membership to stay, you’ll receive service on the 4th and 8th days, unless you decide to decline the service.

Important Information

  • If there is more than one room on your reservation and you choose to decline service, your selection will apply to all rooms on the reservation.
  • We reserve the right to enter any room at a Disney Resort hotel for maintenance, safety, security or any other purpose, even if the Room Occupied sign is displayed on the room door. View Walt Disney World Resort Property Rules.

Honestly the lack of housekeeping never would have bothered me. The room checking without any housekeeping did. When I was in the room with the room check it was always a housekeeping supervisor. So they couldn’t see the trash and be like hey XYZ can you go to room 4xxxx and empty the trash please. I don’t need the bed made and new towels every day (or every other day) but the trash build up with resort staff in the room daily was annoying.

I usually leave my work laptop out, so I can jump on at any given time. I never worried about the staff doing anything with any of our stuff in the past, but now I can verify. The room checks have stoked my curiosity:teeth:
I hope you follow good security practices by having a password on your laptop. You can check the activity by looking at the log when you return to it.

The only checks I have had were at AKL last year and were security checks seemed like everyday. Not sure if it was because I was solo but it was inconvenient especially when the dnd sign is on. have never had anything that bad.

I stayed at Mohegan Pennsylvania in Wilkes-Barre a few weeks ago and they must have recently started room checks. Told me at check in that I don’t have to be there but if I am I have to open the door. They also had a sign in the room itself.
I appreciate this resort's openness and direct information.

While I do NOT support the excessive room checks, I do notice that their written policy is as clear as day.
Saying that they reserve the right to do this is different then them telling people that they WILL be doing daily room checks. I accept that when I stay at a hotel, there may be a reason for the employees to enter my room (replace smoke detector battery, maintenance on AC/ heater, etc.) I think that that is reasonable, but I would not expect the hotel to purposely interrupt me while I'm napping in the afternoon on vacation.

Thanks and yes. I have my laptop set to lock when I close it and I always close it when I leave. Plus, I have it also set to lock after just a few minutes if idle.

Slightly off topic: I used to get stock cards or ~9x12" drawings as an advertisement for DVC placed in the room a day before check out. I don't remember getting them for the last 3-4 trips. I wonder if I've finally made it to their Don't Bother list.

The OP started this thread back in June. So that's 63 posts in almost 5 months. Not all in one day.
Please look at the OP's joined date and then the date of this first post. Wait are you telling me that we have no idea how many posts they had when they started this tread?

Look at the first post, they joined on June,10,2024 and this post was started on June,10,2024.
Right, the thread was started on the date the person joined DISboards but the 63 posts have accumulated across the full 5 months since they joined, not all on the date this thread was started. You specifically called out 63 posts in 1 day and that isn't true.

That’s a cumulative total of all their posts since they joined, not at the time the post was made. Look at their other posts, they were posting in late October. Your post count says 2524. Did you make them all on your first day? Of course not. It’s a cumulative total.

And no, you have no way of knowing how many posts someone has when they start a thread, unless you see it immediately.

Yeah the thing is with Disney they are often vague and inconsistent here with this policy. It's generally understood that any hotel has the right to enter your room because well it's not your property, that doesn't mean that there is a policy they adhere to merely by stating that. Other hotel brands have used wording that includes specific number of hours such as 24, 48 and 72 hours for example or they use notification like "we were not able to service your room because of X sign", etc. They are clear to the guest. Disney is not and ever since they started doing this is had bred annoyance, irritation and angst and there are numerous threads on the DIS about it alone.

For the OP the amount of disruption seems pretty amplified so I can understand being even more irritated than already having work around a security check that is not well defined in truth to the guest.

Thank you to all who have commented on this post. 17 pages and going! I wish I had time to post more, but yes that's all I have posted over the past months. I joined Disboards to share my 50th Birthday experiences at WDW which was EPIC! I had such an amazing time! My *only* hiccup was the "excessive room checks". I wanted to see if it had happened to anyone else? There is nothing suspect or suspicious about me. *Though I seem to be causing trouble here? I stand by my original post which mentioned my personal experience over my entire trip at Boulder Ridge DVC and Beach Club (hotel side). Room checks were both equally intrusive. If it wasn't my 50th birthday - maybe I would not have been as upset. I understand they need to room checks. Also, Addressing
Dave and others: It was 3 or 4 room checks on Beach Club side and 2 Boulder Ridge per day. Hope that clarifies things.
Best Disney Wishes & Happy Vacations to all!I apologize for typos, grammar or spelling. Typing this out in a hurry. Edited to add that I was in my room a lot on this particular trip because it was super hot outside and would go out around evening when it was cooler. So we were using the pool, or eating birthday cake or watching tv. In case anyone really needed to know.
