Rise of the Resitance is most overrated ride in Orlando

I'm not a Star Wars fan, never watched any of the movies, but my kids enjoy them.

The first time I rode it I expected more but realized that's mostly because I'm not a fan and don't know what's going on. My kids loved it though. My brother rode it on a trip and when he came home he couldn't stop telling me how cool the ride was and told me he just knew he was going to be in the next movie. :rotfl:

I appreciate the theming and imagineering that went into it and we ride it at least once every trip with LLSP.

This is why I try not to read reviews on here or on youtube before experiencing something. It can sway how you feel about something, at least for me. I like to go in with a clear mind and take it all in and come to my own conclusions.

For Guardians I didn't read anything about it and never watched a video. My daughter and I were completely blown away by it. Best ride ever!

OP, you're brave for posting this. I expected that you'd get attacked for this and I was right lol I think Rise is fine.......when it works. I have yet to ride it with everything working /shrugs

When I go to DL this September, I plan on skipping it and don't even expect myself to step into Galaxy's Edge at all. There are better things to do in the park.
OP got attacked because they were being absurd and dramatic to the point it almost felt like bait (after all of that getting on it again? lmao).

It really is an entirely different experience with everything working though, and I say that as someone who pays to ride it on every trip. And I mean *everything*. I was lucky enough to ride it back when the cannons still moved and that was genuinely the coolest thing I have ever experienced on a dark ride. It did so much to sell the danger inherent to the frantic escape. That’s why I was really happy to see it get fixed in DLR and hope we get those fixes in FL.

B mode is pretty mid though, and too often it’s what people get. I’m one that actually enjoys the sequel characters (I just wish they had a better story), but I thought Kylo was really dumb, and Rise actually made me respect him as a villain the way the movies never did--but the ride really suffers when his finale AA is broken. The ship is so anticlimactic after being chased by him for half the ride. I will say my other ding on this ride is bc so much of the immersion relies on the CMs, when guests don’t buy into the RP elements with them (eg trying to get them to break character, not paying attention, etc) it really takes away from the experience for me, I find. Many times I find myself wishing I could ride it in the context of something like Star Wars Weekends when I know everyone’s willing to commit to the bit.

I agree that OP's points were....not great but I feel like even if they worded it better they would've been attacked anyway. I've seen it happen in other Disney spaces when someone says Rise isn't the best theme park ride ever created.

And yeah I bet the ride is amazing when everything is working but I personally have never been on it where something wasn't broken. I refuse to pay extra for it when I go to DL so I won't be sad if I don't get to ride it. Like I said I may not even step into Galaxy's Edge at all.

The problem with immersive story rides is that once you've been immersed in the story enough times, it gets stale unless there is a nostalgia factor or a physical thrill to go along with it. Something like HM or PotC doesn't get as stale as quickly because you remember riding it when you were a dead-tired 5 year old and it's still more or less the exact same attraction (perhaps, a bit less pro human trafficking nowadays, but, you know, we all grow a little wiser with age). Something like ToT doesn't get as stale as quickly because you have the thrill component to complement the immersive story. RotR may, one day, obtain a nostalgia status, but it's not there yet for most. It's in its awkward teenage years -- forget about it for a decade, let it cook.

Sorta interesting because this isn't the first time I've heard the complaint that Rise isn't thrilling enough, there might be an expectation that since it's an e-ticket then it should be thrilling (and the easiest way to do this is with a coaster) and sometimes that isn't the case! Going to be interesting when the Avengers e-ticket opens, I have a hunch we might see similar complaints for that one.

I agree with prior posts about how part of the issue is that some of the ride just doesn't work. The cannons are a big one, when it's on it really makes you feel like you're trying to escape in the middle of a firefight, but it's not at WDW so the tension isn't nearly as high. Last time I went one of the screens wasn't on, which made it even worse. It's definitely a diminished ride from what it was in the first years. Feel like a refurb would do some good but they're in a difficult spot with future attraction closures.

I think it’s a great immersive experience… if it’s working properly. Many times it’s not and I feel so bad for the people who are riding it for the first time when it’s like that.

B mode is pretty mid though, and too often it’s what people get.

All of this. Rise is a truly amazing ride. But Disney is simply unwilling or unable to invest the resources necessary to keep it working properly. As a result, what can be a fantastic experience usually ends up being a middling one.

I have never been more disapointed in a ride.

There is almost zero thrill factor except that one tiny drop. The ride vehicle is really dull. Remys was even more fun and thats pretty disapointing as well. At times it feels like you are on a slow moving tea cups ride.
It is not a thrill ride. It is interactive and meant to be experienced. You may be confusing WDW with Universal, where almost everything is meant to be a thrill.
The sets are big but mostly static. Very little movement. They arent game changing. Feel like some screens as background could of brought some life to it.
The action is your ride vehicle, not the set itself. The story is centered around you, not the sets.
Nothing on old star wars. Kylo ren just isnt interesting. Why oh why is there no original characters.
Disney, although I believe it was a poor decision, did not base Star Wars land on the original or second trilogy. They based it on post-Lucas films where Disney was involved. All of SWL is focused on everything outside of Episodes 1 - 6, even Smuggler's Run.
Ive done it twice now. Zero interest in ever doing it again. It was just a boring ride.
More room in the line for others who appreciate it. :)
Why does this get so much praise? I cant be the only one confused by this?
Because it is a great attraction. You are one opinion out of hundreds of thousands. Those of you who do not like it are in a minority.
The guardians of the galaxy roller coaster ride should of been the e ticket stars wars ride. How amazing would of that been.
This comment makes zero sense among your complaint. These are in 2 different parks. Nothing is stopping you from riding Guardians as much as you want to, regardless of what tier it is.

My understanding is that neither of these are true and that they put in a LOT of work to get the turrets going at DL again. It's an extremely complex ride and now they're dealing with a handful of issues and not a lot of opportunity to fix those issues. As I mentioned before, a refurb would be nice, but...

Yeah, they do need to keep everything working, but with something so big and complex I am sure it is difficult. I rode it the other day, and am pretty sure I got a B-Mode ending where Kylo Ren is outside in his TIE Fighter, instead of trying to pull you in with The Force andn then the bulkhead blows behind him. At least they cover that okay, though it's not quite as impactful.

Our family doesn't dislike it but it's definitely not one we need to do every trip, especially with the ILL or long waits. If it had a 15 minute wait, we probably would go on it. There are plenty of other rides that we feel that way about as well. It's been about 5 years since we've gotten on PP because without a LL at WDW it's not worth it and DLR doesn't have LL at all. Now Mr. Toad I will never forgo but that's my weird obsession.
