Remy Brunch Canceled on 1st Fantasy Cruise

The first Fantasy cruise of this year is going to sail on 9/11. It was originally supposed to be the second cruise but the actual first one was canceled. It was also supposed to be a 7 night cruise but it was shortened to 4 nights.

As of today Remy brunch has been canceled. If you had a reservation for it on this cruise's sea day then when you log in you'll see that it's missing even though the "adult dining" page will list it as "sold out." I was really looking forward to eating the pata negra ham.

Does anyone know why a meal or entire restaurant experience would be removed? Do you think maybe Disney doesn't think it's worth the cost to keep it open if there aren't enough guests to fill it to a certain point?:headache: This way they don't have to buy the necessary menu ingredients.

This is NOT an error. The cast member on the phone told me Remy brunch was canceled after I called because I noticed my reservation was missing. I made this thread AFTER Disney confirmed that Remy brunch was canceled.

1) It could be an error (I saw this on the Dream bookings as well)
2) They went from 3 Sea Days down to 1 Sea Day (so this was also a prediction I had)

Unfortunately not much you can do except send DCL an email and possibly talk to them when you get on board about it. Also always a chance people still cancel and you can snag a time.

:( It's not an error. The cast member on the phone told me that Remy was canceled for the sailing and that a note was placed on every account that had a reservation for it. I made the thread after I got off the phone. I'll go edit my original post to make it more clear.

I know on the Dream it was being offered so might be a issue with it being one of the first sailings and them needing more time before they start offering brunch?

We are on the 9/11 Fantasy sailing, and got an email from Concierge saying "Remy brunch will not be offered during your sailing." They cancelled our Sun 9/12 (only sea day) reservation. I assume Remy may be open for dinner since they didn't say Remy was closed.

Come to think about, I don't recall Remy brunch even being offered on our 9/3 Dream cruise...or maybe I just didn't look for it since we always do Palo Brunch.

Prebooked Remy Brunch has been cancelled on our 9/25 Fantasy cruise as well. Spent 1.5 hrs last night on hold with DCL to be told they weren't sure why it wasn't showing on our reservation. Received call from Supervisor this morning saying Brunch was cancelled on cruise, no reason why given. Just received an email from DCL saying the same thing. Not good move by DCL on timing, we just made the reservation on Tuesday when our shortened cruise opened again for booking. :sad1:

Ugh!! I just came on to disboards because I picked up an unexpected Remy brunch booking on our Fantasy sailing the first week of November. We’ve only done Palo brunch in the past so I was looking for any reviews of Remy brunch in recent weeks. But now I’m not feeling hopeful it will happen after all 👎🏻

My Remy brunch disappeared off my 9/18 Fantasy cruise also although no notification from DCL it just disappeared. Not a good move IMO. Personally not happy with DCL at this point with changing to 4 day from 7 then cancelling dining without notification. It’s leaving a bad taste. Probably my last DCL…not worth the extra $ anymore. Sad as I am Platinum.

I just received the email from my TA who said "don't shoot the messenger", she knows this is probably our top favorite thing on the ship. This cut hurts far worse than the others - it makes absolutely no sense from a covid perspective, so why? Palo brunch has been sold out for over a month, so that leaves us with the scaled back Cabanas or the same old main dining. And they know there is nothing we can do, so the cuts just keep coming.

I disagree, I think Disney canceling something that makes money probably is covid related. Distancing, etc. They don't have to hire additional staff, they are already there, they still have to feed those guests somewhere else for no additional cost. Even if one person booked it, they would be making money.

They have Remy dinner - brunch is no different. So the covid aspect doesn't make sense to me. Those folks only work in Remy, so it's not like they are needed elsewhere on the ship.

Why see Remy brunch as a COVID risk but not Palo brunch? Are the Palo cancellations coming too? I think Remy is a smaller restaurant but doesn't that also mean fewer people which could be safer? Wouldn't cancelling Palo have been better unless it's easier to social distance in there? Why is Remy dinner ok?

Maybe they just want to close as many restaurants as possible (during the various meal times) because I just read someone saying 2nd dinner seating only had 2 out of 3 MDR restaurants open.

Well we went from a 7-night Western to a 4-night double dip which meant a lot of Remy and Palo brunches were already cancelled. We had just gotten things straightened out and then they pull the rug out on Remy brunch. There are a lot of people on my cruise who are seriously unhappy not to have any brunch when previously they had 2 booked. I really hope this is not an indication they are going to cancel Remy dinner.

That does make it interesting. That is just lost revenue then. You have the space, you have the staff, you have to feed the folks who don't pay extra for Remy for free somewhere else. While less inclined to think covid is the reason, I still think it make sense it is covid so you don't have as many people in a confined space per cruise.

Head count. That was the way it was in the working world the past year when they sent most people to work from home, and kept a few in the building. All to keep the head count for potential exposure. My wife's place didn't do as much work from home, but she did get one day off per week with pay......on call..... and they altered work hours......different way of doing the same thing, keeping the head count down and exposure risk down.

Yep. That's exactly what happened to me. I booked one brunch at each restaurant back when we had three sea days so we could try both. Then when they shortened the cruise to one sea day I rebooked Remy. Now there is nothing because they took it out of nowhere with no explanation and only sent a weak "sorry" email a day later that still didn't say why. Lack of communcation and lack of reasoning behind these decisions is making this rollercoaster aggravating. 🤕

Maybe it's their way of forcing us to use our onboard credit for staying with this shortened cruise on merchandise.

Did folks not expect a roller coaster between trying to keep people healthy and trying to resume operations after being closed down for over a year? This is really a soft opening just like new or remodeled restaurants do.
