Remy Brunch Canceled on 1st Fantasy Cruise

Yep. That's exactly what happened to me. I booked one brunch at each restaurant back when we had three sea days so we could try both. Then when they shortened the cruise to one sea day I rebooked Remy. Now there is nothing because they took it out of nowhere with no explanation and only sent a weak "sorry" email a day later that still didn't say why. Lack of communcation and lack of reasoning behind these decisions is making this rollercoaster aggravating. 🤕

Maybe it's their way of forcing us to use our onboard credit for staying with this shortened cruise on merchandise.
Same thing happened to us - when we had to pick Palo or Remy, we easily picked Remy.

I'm really struggling with this today and am really sad and not terribly looking forward to the cruise. I know for some, it seems dumb, but fine dining is what is most important to us on the cruise and this was a big celebration. We originally booked B2B 5-nights on the Fantasy in concierge for our 20th wedding anniversary in 2020. We pushed that to 7-night Western this year. Now we are on two 4-nights and no brunch AT ALL. With so many things taken away, there is really not much for us to do on the sea day. And DCL just doesn't care - if we cancel, no big deal. Passengers have zero influence on what they do right now. When I run out all of my FCC and rebooked cruises, Celebrity is really where I think we are headed (after 26 DCL cruises). They seem to have figured out how to sail longer itineraries that actually go places and the suites have their own dining room and upcharge restaurants are included (as is alcohol). Clearly I'm not the demographic that DCL is worried about keeping.

Did folks not expect a roller coaster between trying to keep people healthy and trying to resume operations after being closed down for over a year? This is really a soft opening just like new or remodeled restaurants do.
I think everyone expected a rollercoaster. That doesn't change the fact that the withholding of communication and explantions is extremely annoying. It's especially annoying when you're used to dealing with Disney Parks experiences because a big part of what WDW practices is "under promise, over deliver." I know, I was a cast member. The Disney Cruise Line is struggling to live up to what other Disney subsidiaries have been serving guests. That is irrefutably annoying. If I was sailing for my 20th wedding anniversary that was planned far in advance and everyday something else was being suddenly and seemingly randomly taken away I'd be upset and on my way to Celebrity too.

We did Celebrity for our 20th in 2018. The suites are nice. However, the suites do not all come with the upcharge restaurants, unless they recently changed. It was just the upper tier suites, depending upon the ship, 1-3 suite types. The suite dining room is fabulous. We never ate in the MDR. We did do the buffet, which is also excellent, and some specialty dining. Can't wait to get back to them. Good luck. I hope things work out no matter what you decide. We had 3 cruises canceled on DCL since 2020 and are now targeting next summer.

Luminae IS the main dining room for suites on Celebrity. Like Blu is the main dining room for Aqua Class. There are not assigned tables in the regular cabin MDRs for Suites or Aquas.

We were also offered to eat in the MDR if we so wished. We were also offered to eat at Blu if there was availability. We only ate in Luminae. They try to accomodate suite guests as much as possible.

That is the nature of a pandemic, They are merely reacting to the random circumstances that beyond their control. Lord, I can't even keep up with the pandemic restrictions at the grocery store. Masks.....no masks........you can bring your own bags.......you can't bring your own bags.

Well, yes. But technically the MDR is on a space available basis for Suites and Aqua. Will they put people in who request it? Sure - sadly often at the expense of people who are not in Suites or Aqua. (Yes, I witnessed this on the Edge. Not the MDR I was going to, but the one across the hall - a group went up and said that the Suite Concierge had made arrangements for them to eat there. There was another party that was not in suites but had made a reservation who went to check in and were told that there would be a wait for their table because there had been many suite guests who wanted to eat there that night. They were offered a table in one of the other MDRs at that time if they didn’t want to wait. I got checked in and taken to my table before they decided what to do - but they were not happy. I don’t blame them. They say “space available” but clearly will put them in at the expense of others. I’ve seen multiple reports of Aqua guests having super long waits for Blu because of suite guests. I love Celebrity, but I do think they should not allow suite guests tables at the expense of non-suite guests.)

Then they should have refunded more $. Or at the very least a lot of upgrades. Royal Caribbean Cruise line at a fraction of the cost on DCL is doing 7 days with stops in the USVI and St Maarten without problems. If they did it because they are level 4 that is a poor excuse when the US and especially Florida is a level 4. Less than 30 days notification on top of long holds 1+ hours has left a bad impression. I will never sail DCL again and I am a Platinum level. I used to say it was worth paying more. Not anymore. Not the way they are treating guests pre cruise. We also had Remy brunch cancelled. On the original cruise we had Palo’s scheduled. Now everything is sold out. So much for a free Palos dinner for Platinum 🤣🤣. It no longer pays to be DCL loyal.

I can't disagree about bigger refunds, but like I said, if you are trying to cruise now, it is the soft opening and you take your chances.
How is Royal Caribbean stopping in USVI? It's closed too. https://usviupdate.com/st-thomas/

EDITED: Just check Vlogger, people are up in arms about how Royal Caribbean is handing thing, so DCL is not alone in that.

Interesting because a friend just got back from RC cruise That stoped at St Thomas. She was very happy but then she is fully vaccinated. I thought it was great that they had tracker wristbands that indicated who you had been near in case you or a person you came in contact with got Covid. I’ll have to read that Vlog.
