Does anyone have pictures of their DDs hair braided. I'm thinking about doing this with my 5 year old and possibly my 21 month old. I want something that will help with the wind but also not hurt when they sleep. I had mine done once and found it difficult to sleep, that is something I DON'T want interuppted on a vacation.

I had my hair done and it was definatly sore to be done and for a few days later. And I am nearly 40!!

My 3 DD's had it done in Dec and the older two complained the first night about their head being sore (only when they were laying down). Ibuprofen worked well enough for them to sleep-no problems after that. My DD4 never complained, in fact she was really mad when I made her take them out after 2 weeks.
Let me find the pics and I'll post them...

My MIL had my DD's hair braided on Castaway this summer. She had just turned 2 and wanted to be like her cousins who were having their hair done. We only put a couple of rows in and they didn't seem to bother her at all. In fact whenever she sees the picture she wants "more beads". The only thing I worried about was making sure she had plenty of sunscreen on her scalp so she wouldn't burn. Hope this helps and have a great trip!

my 17 year old had like a headband of corn rows done with no beads, it was very cute, kept the air off of her face and she didn't complain at all. Last time when she had the braids with the beads it hurt and we ended up having to cut some of them out because they were impossible to get undone. The headband started after her bangs and was about 2 1/2 inches long and then the rest of her hair hung in the back. It was very cute. We did it on castaway cay, it cost more than the other locations but I was more comfortable with it there.

Here's my dd from our DVC Member Cruise in 2007, she was 4 at the time of sailing:

she maybe smiling because she liked the fact of having her hair braided but it pulled her fine hair out by the roots so when I took the braids out when we got home lots of her hair came out with it. I could see the white hair follicles

I'd love to see a picture

I wonder, can you ask them to do it al ittle looser? I've wondered if DD would like it or not. If I was dfoing it no way would she sit, but for others she might. I also don't want her hair to break much either and tighter ones will cause breakage.

My girls have had their hair braided many times. When they were younger it did hurt some. I always made the last appointment at night, gave them advil and put them to bed. They were fine in the morning. Here are some pictures

We went on a double dip last June, so got it done on the first day out at CC. My DGD 6 said it didn't hurt but there were others there that were crying (loudly). Here are a couple of pics:

All done!

The CM told her to wear a bandana at night so all the baby hairs didn't pull out while she was sleeping.

awe, the princess beads are so cute. we didn't get that option but we my dd's done on the ship.

What prices did you guys pay? Is it more on CC or on the ship or about the same?

It's been a while but I think we paid around $30 + 5 for a tip on CC. It was $2/braid. I've heard horror stories about getting it done on the islands. They say $2/braid, then they have 100 teeny tiny ones. Also, they're not so concerned with cleanliness on the islands. But also remember if you're not going to CC until your last day, then they won't have their hair all done up during the cruise...

Lillygator, your girls are so cute! I like the way their hair is "designed"? Not just straight lines like my DGD. You got them done onboard, right?

Just curious the cost of this? And can you book an appt prior to boarding or do you do that at guest services once on board?
