***OFFICIAL February 2025 Thread***

Coming in late with a solo trip. Feb 8 - 12th.

DVC split stay between BWV and GFV. Honestly, with the cheer competition that weekend, I am shocked I was able to snag a night on the 8th! I've tried to modify it with no luck. Looking forward to solo time in the parks, Festival of the Arts, and meeting up with my Orlando BFFs in the evenings.

Just booked a “last minute” trip. Going February 7-10th and staying at the Swan!

Got you both added to the list.

18 days! I can not believe the trips are so close now. Nothing new on the planning front right now. Just biding my time and making a list of things I need to grab at the store before I leave. I am also trying to decide on if I want to place a grocery delivery order. It would basically be waters and so quick snacks I can take to the parks (things like carrot sticks and grapes or apples and maybe some snacky chips to have in the room for a quick grab and go snack).

I'm going to hop in here.

My husband and I are going February 4 - February 9, staying at the Yacht Club. We just booked about a week ago!!

We took our kids to Disney 4 or 5 times as they were growing up, took our first solo trip in 2014 to celebrate our 25th Anniversary, and went back again alone in 2016, staying at the Boardwalk Inn both times when it was just the 2 of us. We fell in love with the convenient location.

Covid, retirement, a move to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, and the arrival of our first 2 grandbabies (many lengthy trips out to Colorado to visit - I'm not complaining) caused us to change our travel habits...as in we haven't really had a true vacation in about 7 or 8 years.

I booked this trip quite spontaneously and we're both incredibly excited. We really need it! We will be there for our 36th wedding anniversary on February 5.

I've been teasing my husband that it's a trial run to be sure that Grandad and Nonna still have it for when we bring the grandkids with us.

I got you added. I can so relate to the last statement! I can't wait to take my grand babies but we are waiting on their parents to say they are ready for them to go...I'm thinking they better not be waiting too long or these old bodies may not be as gung ho and able to do the parks like we do now. LOL

Both of my son’s first trips were at @ 4 with just my parents. My dad had a conference that was at WDW every 4 years. After the younger went on his trip , my dad had a different conference and wanted to bring both boys and I got to tag along. That started a long run of the 5 of us going . I hope to do the same with my grandkids one day . Don’t have any yet but hope to in the next couple of years

Neither of our adult kids are big Disney fans and they get a giggle out of the fact that their Dad and I like to go on our own. Our daughter and her family live in Colorado and their idea of a great vacation is anything that involves hiking, nature, camping, etc. Their 2 babies (3 years old and 1 year old) have been tent camping since 3 months of age, as soon as they could handle the altitude of the mountains. Our son and his wife don't have kids yet, but are planning to. They are big into worldwide travel (they lived in Europe for awhile) and definitely don't have any interest in WDW right now.

However, that being said, we're all in agreement that Disney trips WILL happen when the grandkids are a good age. Even if they as adults aren't that interested, they all feel strongly that it's an incredible vacation for the littles. At this point in her young life, it's hard to get my little Emilia out of her Elsa dress and I personally read the book to her 21 nights in a row during our Christmas visit! LOL

Our dream is to be able to bring them all with us - our treat! Not sure how the timing (or the finances!) of that will turn out, but a Nonna can dream...

This might be the refurbishment my kids will be most upset about:

The indoor children's playground in the Dumbo the Flying Elephant queue will close for refurbishment on January 27, 2025 and is expected to reopen in Spring 2025. The attraction will remain open and available during this time.

Thanks for sharing that. Park closing times are one of the few things I'm actually very interested in knowing.

A bit off topic from the thread and I realize it is still far away so you probably aren't even looking at anything yet but something I'd consider if you haven't already is to research renting DVC points. Might be worth it with a group like that. Another option would be off-site which is cheaper and can also get you larger accomodations. But of course some of that Disney magic is lost for the kids first trip

Just a couple of suggestions for when you do eventually start looking into it

I can't wait for my adult daughter to have kids so we can take them. It's one of the reasons we bought DVC.

That is a bit of a bummer for us. Our flight gets in around 730 on Feb 5 and I was hoping to take advantage of the extra magic hours starting at 9. Don't want to stay out too late because we have to get up early the next morning for the keys to the kingdom tour. Thought we could get a lot done between just 9 and 10.

I don't want to sound like a negative Nellie, but I'm really not thrilled with the new way they do extra hours for resort guests.

First, it seems that 1/2-hour in the mornings is not enough (even if you can pick which ever park you want.) We really liked it the old way where there was one park each day that resort guests could get into an hour early. (At least I think it was an hour. But it was definitely NOT 1/2-hour and it was definitely not all parks every day.)

But worse than that, we're disappointed that MK and Epcot have only 1 night of extra hours, and it turns out we can't even take advantage of the Epcot night because it's on a Monday and we won't be there. (Epcot's our favorite park.) You'd think they'd do 2X a week for each park so guests staying less than a week might have a chance to take advantage of it.

And don't even get me started on the fact that nighttime is no longer for all resorts guests but only for Deluxe. (And yes, we're staying at a Deluxe, but I still think it stinks!!)

We always did the "Magic Your Way" package and this is how I remember it:

But it's all good. I'm confident we'll have a wonderful time regardless!

Thanks for the suggestions!

I know that staying off-site would probably not be an option for us, but I'm definitely going to be looking into other possibilities to save $$

I'm not naive, so I know it's never going to be an inexpensive (or even a moderately expensive!) vacation. We know our own limits and resources, so I'll definitely be researching the idea of renting DVC points.

I can't wait. I know my daughter in law wont let us take them without them but that's fine with us, we will make it a big family trip and hubby and I will volunteer to hang with the littles while the ones that are big enough to ride rides, ride what they want. My grandkids are 4, 3, almost 2 (friday) and almost 2 months. They all belong to my oldest son and his wife. My daughter and her husband don't have kids yet and my youngest just graduated college and says he is fine just being an uncle LOL
