It should work with the QR Code in the app. Is there a Max on the 7% Back? You should be able to combine with a Freedom/Freedom Flex to receive the 5% back as well.

It's worth keeping in mind that, when redeeming Circle rewards, they come off of the pre-sales tax price of items. So, if you use it on items that would have otherwise been charged sales tax, then you get the extra bonus of not paying your state sales tax for those items. NJ is at 6.625%, so that's a nice little boost. When I'm running in to buy off brand face wash, body wash, shave gel, which are already competitive with Walmart pricing in my area, then the sales tax "rebate" of sorts makes those rewards worth more than 10%.

I guess I just find that even with the savings of the sales tax, Walmart and others seems to be cheaper on most items.

I usually wait and use my rewards with a sale, like buy $60 of household items and get a $15 gift card and choose items I can stack with coupons. I get the savings of the gift card and the circle savings. I very rarely use them on a straight purchase... it's all about rolling the savings into the next transaction.
