Problem with Kidani stay

Yes, it's my responsibility to gather my stuff. But when Disney says a text that a room is ready, if it's a non-standard room like I got, shouldn't the text message note that? If it had, I would have gone right to the desk instead of the room.
If you go into MDE and hit show room number, it would have shown there that it was an accessible room. I always check there when I get the room ready text to make sure I’m getting the type of room I booked.

Sounds like it was a hassle to change rooms and likely the extra stress led to leaving some things behind. That said, I've found Disney to generally be very helpful for items left in a room, we once left a pair of expensive sunglasses behind and didn't realize it until they were delivered to our house a few weeks later! Never had an experience like that anywhere else and was very impressed. So maybe it's a hit or miss thing.

Good to know. I've never seen that. But I still think it should be included in the text message.

The stress was I had to leave the room open while running to the new room and back.

Yes, but if Bell Services had moved me all at once, instead of me having to leave the door OPEN and run between distant rooms, I would have had time to make sure everything was moved. DVC is supposed to be a deluxe experience. This surely wasn't.

Did they tell you to start moving yourself vs just waiting in the first room for bell services?

If so, that is the feedback I would send them because I have never had that happen when moving a room like that. We were once asked to move after going in the room and said bell services would come. It was just me but I did have my owners locker so I waited for them.

In terms of the other pieces? If it’s missing elements because of being accessible, I personally wouldn’t complain about that especially they did find you another room.

To give you hope about a lost item. I lost MB twice and I got them both back about a month or two after getting home!!

I went to the front desk. I asked why the room was different. The CM looked it up and said it's an "accessible" room, and would I like to move? I said yes, as I want a safe and place to hang my clothes for my 7 day stay. She made a phone call. She then asked me if I have anything in the room, as it is now locked and I can't get in. I said yes. She sent another CM with a master key to open the door for me. He did and left. I was later told by another CM that Bell Services should have been sent. I'm not complaining that they found me another room; that was great, even if it was very far from the lobby. I'm complaining that I lost an item (or actually 2, one item being told twice it was gone, and then getting a call that there was a mix-up and they had the coat). If that was the end of the story, I'd be fine.

I am still confused as to why you wouldn’t have asked for help from bell services since you knew you had so much?

Regardless, sending them your experience would help in the future.

In terms of lost items, unfortunately I don’t think that’s on Disney because it was simply an accident on your part.

The one thing I wanted to ask is are you sure the gps was left in the kidani room? You mentioned staying okw first and then driving over. Is it possible it was left in the okw room or maybe in rental car or maybe somewhere along path (if you checked bags any point). I only ask because I sometimes misremember and maybe wouldn’t hurt to put lost and found to okw or rental company.

Well, I'm a solo traveler. To go to the room, check it out, and then go back to my car and then go back to the room is a lot more work than I want on a vacation. And besides that, I never had a problem with a DVC room before, other than one time at OKW where the air conditioner duct at the kitchenette started pouring water from the ceiling after I had been there for an hour or so.
As far as the luggage cart: the CM who gave me the new room asked me if I had anything in the old room, as it was now locked, and I told her yes. And a CM later told me that Bell Services should have been sent to move me.
Sorry for the confusion. We bring our stuff- whatever we want in whatever room we end up in- either using a luggage cart or bringing it ourselves, but leave it outside the door ( with door propped open) or just inside while we check the room. A friend of ours had a bedbug nightmare and we are extra cautious!
But I'm confused I guess if you had a lot of stuff why you didn't mention that you needed a cart. How would they know? And it's not on them that you forgot your coat, imo. But its sounds like a lousy way to start your stay. I hope it turned around and you have a great vacation!

Good question. I carefully examined my memory as to where I could of lost the GPS. I drove my OKW to the Disney Outlet store on Vineland using the GPS. And then to Walmart. And then to Aldi on 192 using the GPS, and then to a nature walk I like in Celebration, using the GPS. And then from there to AKL using the GPS. At the under resort parking I took down the GPS and put it in its carrying case with neck strap. So I definitely know it got to AKL. I checked the car several times before returning it at the airport 6 days later, thinking maybe it fell off the passenger seat or was lost in the trunk, where I would normally have tossed it with the luggage while waiting for the room available text. Nope. I really doubt it fell off my neck between the car and the room. Therefore I am 95% certain I lost it in the original room.

Never occurred to me to leave my stuff outside the door. It never occurred to me to ask for help, as I'm kind of a do it myself type of person.
Yes, it's my fault I forgot about my coat and the GPS. But without being misled about the room it wouldn't have happened. But that also begs the question: if something is mistakenly left behind in a room should it disappear? I mean, I'm from New York City, and even things left on the subway are sometimes returned.
