My Feet Are Gonna Pizza Flop-Off - 6 Days in 4 Parks! February 2024 TR **NEW** x2 10/27

Hey there!:wave2: Long time DIS-er but I have been absent from the boards for a long time. I just started getting into reading TR's again and came across yours because we will be in Disneyland in November. Really enjoying your report so far, I love all the photos too!
Looks like you had amazing weather too! We live in south Texas and its often still pretty warm in November so we are hoping for nicer temps (and less humidity) in November. I bet February was amazing!
I wish we had more time in SoCal b/c Universal looks really fun but as it is we will be at Disneyland for just 4 days so we plan to do 2 days in each park. I stayed at Grand Californian years and years ago with my parents (they are DVC as well) and they gifted my husband and I some points to stay at Disneyland Resort for this trip with our son. We are pretty excited!
That is so cool you got to be in New Orleans Square for Mardi Gras! That pizza turnover looks really good, I keep seeing it on TikTok and I know my teenager would love that.
Looking forward to reading more!
Hey, I recognized your IG handle!! Welcome along!

The weather should be SO nice in November, plus the holiday decorations will be great I'm sure! It was definitely wonderful to be in a Disney park and NOT sweating for this trip!

I bet the Disneyland Hotel will be SO nice since those DVC rooms are so new!! Super nice of your parents to gift you the resort!! I never thought we'd be able to stay onsite at Disneyland, so getting to do it for a few nights this trip was truly amazing.

Day 4 Continued: Tuesday February 13th

Finally, it was time to tap in for our Runaway Railway LL! I know the ride is the same at WDW, but it’s one we really love so we were looking forward to riding. And the queue is totally different, so that was fun to check out! I also booked our next LL for Toy Story Mania.

The reimagined movie posters were super cute.

There were many scenes and props from all of the old Mickey cartoons, which is super cute to see! I love that we now have easier access to see these with Disney+.

I made DS take a picture with the Three Musketeers poster because he absolutely LOVED this cartoon when he was a kid! He watched it all of the time.

IMG_5041 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

DD loves the newer Mickey shorts on the Disney channel, so she needed her own photo with the Potatoland poster.

IMG_5043 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Then it was time to head into the theater for our ride through The Perfect Picnic!

Day 4 Continued: Tuesday February 13th

In other parts of Fantasyland, Gepetto was also meandering around. Maybe he was looking for Pinocchio?!

IMG_7359 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We didn’t have anything else we wanted to ride in Disneyland for now, so we made our way up to Main Street and decided to shop on the way out.

IMG_5059 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

DS and I each got a new sweatshirt as we shopped. I got one that’s navy blue and kind of in the style of a spirit jersey with Disneyland across the back. I had seen people wearing them all over, and the more I saw it, the more I wanted one for myself! DS got a teal colored on with Disneyland down the sleeve that he LOVES. You’ll see it a lot as the TR continues because I think he probably wore it for the entire rest of the trip after buying it!

At this point, we decided to go back to the Grand Californian for a break from the walking. It was also the timeframe DH had selected to return the rental car since we were not keeping it for the entire week now that we were in the “Disneyland” bubble (as much as that is possible) until it was time to go home. We walked through Downtown Disney to the hotel entrance.

IMG_7360 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_5062 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_7362 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

While DH returned the rental car and took an Uber back to Grand Cal, the kids and I relaxed in the room from about 2 until 3:30 and then we were ready to head back to the park for the evening. While on our break, we were eligible to book another LL so I grabbed one for Guardians of the Galaxy for 4:20 as well so we had a couple of LL on deck when we walked back to DCA.

We used the entrance from the hotel directly into DCA which is SUCH a great perk!!

IMG_0909 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Our first destination was Pixar Pier to use our TSM LL. There was a huge Coco mural on the boardwalk, and my nephew absolutely LOVES Coco, so we stopped to take a photo to send to him!

IMG_7364 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_7366 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_7368 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

I think the wait was posted at maybe 45-50 minutes and we waited about 10 with our LL! I can remember our first couple of trips to Disneyland, TSM didn’t even offer FP so it’s nice that it’s an option now.

IMG_5066 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_5070 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Mine & DD’s scores…her accuracy is always better than mine!!

IMG_5071 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Actually, same with DH & DS!

IMG_0910 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

I’ve always loved the loading area at Hollywood Studios where it’s like you’re a toy in Andy’s room, but I also love the little vignette at the exit of the version in DCA where it’s like the games are happening in the living room of Andy’s house.

IMG_7370 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

This was our first visit since the change from Paradise Pier to Pixar Pier, so we loved checking out all of the new details around the land from our favorite Pixar movies.

IMG_7371 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Another new element was the entire overhaul of the Wharf area into San Fransokyo! We are a family of Big Hero 6 & Baymax lovers since the movie first came out, so we absolutely loved seeing the atmosphere of this beautiful new area.

IMG_7376 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_7377 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We made our way over to Avengers Campus to use our next LL. As a family of MCU fans, we were all SO excited to check out this land for the first time too!

IMG_7379 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We had some Photopass pictures taken with the entryway.

I was so many updates behind but all caught up now!!! Love you all sporting your Mardi Gras gear :) My mom's favorite place in the whole wide world is New Orleans, so thought I've never been there for Mardi Gras, we have always celebrated it at home....in Chicago. Where everyone looks at me crazy for being all decked out on "just Tuesday." LOL

I love seeing all of the pictures of the Disneyland rides! The Storybook Canal boats and Matterhorn are two that I cannot wait to experience someday for sure.

Haha that's so great!! There were a surprising number of people in their Mardi Gras gear in Disneyland too. I was not expecting to see as many as we did!

Since we get to visit WDW so often, some of my favorite Disneyland rides are the ones exclusive to that park. The Canal Boats is such a cute ride, especially for lovers of all of the classic Disney movies!

Loving your DL TR! I've been to DL twice and reading about your trip and seeing the pictures makes me really want to get back there! Wonderful you were able to stay at the GC - what a perfect location. Anxious to see the new sweatshirts :-)

I always miss Disneyland and want to go back because out trips are so infrequent. I wish we could visit there more often!

It was really amazing to get to stay onsite at DL for the first time. With how difficult it can be to get a DVC room at 7 months we were not hopeful, so that made it even more exciting that we were able to do it this time!

DS is wearing his new sweatshirt in the Avengers Campus photos in the most recent post. Hopefully some of the upcoming pictures I got some better images of it. I wore mine a lot toward the end of the trip, and at night when it got really cold and I needed another layer!
Loving your trip report - looking forward to your updates!
Thanks so much! Happy to have you here!

Day 4 Continued: Tuesday February 13th

After our photos, we headed more into the land, checking out Web Slingers along the way. We really wanted to ride it, but the standby was just too long at this time. But not to fear, we did get to experience it plenty!

IMG_7380 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_7382 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We also checked out the Web Suppliers store, and DS was really drawn to the idea of getting a Spider-Man plush as a souvenir. Luckily, we were able to convince him to wait on purchasing anything right away, telling him we could easily go back for it if by the end of the trip he hadn’t found anything else. This ended up being a great piece of advice…

IMG_7383 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_7384 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_7385 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

But ultimately, our goal was to ride Mission Breakout! DD was excited to ride this even though I tried to temper her expectations that it would not be like Cosmic Rewind, which she enjoyed so much last year, but more like Tower of Terror. DS had done Mission Breakout on our last trip to Disneyland and at that time, was not a fan, but he agreed to give it another try this time.

After the first drop, I looked over at DD and she just had wide eyes and was shaking her head frantically. I was a little worried about her at that point but there was nothing to be done. Thankfully, by the end of the ride, both kids proclaimed that they loved it! We got one of my favorite songs to get on this ride, I Want You Back!

After the ride, we booked another LL to use later at Incredicoaster, then wanted to grab an early dinner. As we exited the gift shop, we ran into the tail end of the Lunar New Year Parade passing through.

IMG_7407 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_5083 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_5087 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

I told DD to give me her best reenactment of her face after the first drop. My drama queen DD was happy to oblige.

IMG_5089 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Thor was out, but I mean, he was no Chris Hemsworth lol

Day 4 Continued: Tuesday February 13th

We decided to head over to Cars Land to grab dinner at Flo’s V8 Cafe. I was hoping we’d catch the lights coming on in a little bit as the sun started to go down.

IMG_7412 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

The inside was pretty empty!

IMG_5091 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and veggies, both DH & DS had burgers that came with fries and a pickle spear, and DD had the kids macaroni & cheese with carrot sticks and a mandarin orange.

IMG_5092 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_5093 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We decided to sit outside, and just as we sat down, Sh Boom started playing, and the lights started coming on! We had a great view, not necessarily a good one to video or photograph, but it was great getting to see it happen around us as we enjoyed our dinner.

After dinner and before we headed back to Pixar Pier, I tortured them a little more by making them stop for a photo.

IMG_5096 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

San Fransokyo and Pixar Pier were breathtakingly beautiful lit up at night!!

IMG_7416 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_7418 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_7420 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

I was a little nervous that nighttime might not be the best time for the kids to ride Incredicoaster for the first time, but they were game and we had the LL booked, so we headed into line.

IMG_5105 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_5107 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

I think it was somewhere around this point that I finally realized that when using one of our phones to scan in everyone’s LLs, I didn’t have to take the phone out each time to swipe to the next person and put it back in the reader. Once the phone was in the reader, I could just swipe through the 4 LLs and it would catch all of them.

This was a first time for the kids, and DH and I hadn’t ridden this since it was California Screamin’, and we all absolutely LOVED it!! So fun, and even without being a huge fan of The Incredibles, it was a great upgrade to the ride experience to add them.

Smiles all around!

Soarin had an immediate use LL time available, so we booked that and walked over since it’s pretty close to the Grand Cal entrance anyway.

IMG_5109 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_5110 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

DD always loves that she gets to see Lemony Snicket before getting on this ride.

IMG_5112 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Just a few weeks after our trip, Disney put out that video of Patrick Warburton surprising guests by appearing in person! I know it was likely filmed way before that, but it still felt like we had just missed out. I showed DD and she said she would have screamed if she had been there!

IMG_0932 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

That was it for our park day, and it had definitely been a busy one! Not only had we gotten a lot done, but the parks themselves had been busier than we had expected. We still felt confident heading into the next few days, because we had still managed to do so much despite the parks being more crowded than we had anticipated. So as we walked back into the resort that night, we felt pretty accomplished!

Although we had joined the VQ for World of Color, we just weren't up for it that night.

There were different performers in the lobby throughout the week, and we caught the end of this one as we walked in.

IMG_5119 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We headed back to the room and hurried to get off to bed, so we could do it all again the next day!

What a fun day! The sweatshirt looks really good on your DS - good purchase. Cars Land is so pretty after dark. Good timing on your dinner. Last trip I rode California Screamin' and loved it! Plenty of twists and turns but not too scary. I can see why you were very satisfied with your day!

It was definitely a good purchase for both of us! Super comfortable sweatshirts, and we got a lot of use out of them on the trip and once we were home. I wish we had more cold-weather months in Louisiana to wear them at home!

I hate when things in a park are listed as happening "at dusk" because it can be so easy to miss them. We ran into this just this past week at Universal. So we really did luck out on seeing the Cars Land lighting that night! I had caught it once on a previous trip when I was pregnant for DD and happened to be sitting out while DH and DS rode something I couldn't go on. It's a little difficult to plan for and it only happens once a night!

DH and I loved California Screamin' back when it was that. Adding The Incredibles was a really good choice once they decided to retheme it all to Pixar! It fits in so well, and makes the ride even more fun!
Your photos are amazing! Were they taken with your phone?
Thank you!! Any of the ones that you think look amazing were likely taken with my husband's DSLR camera. We do take a lot on our phones, but the nice ones are all taken on his camera!!

Day 5: Wednesday February 14th

We woke up bright and early on this beautiful Valentine’s Day to head to Early Entry at DCA! We were feeling pretty good as we made our way into the park and headed towards the Buena Vista Street holding spot. Our first LL was booked as we walked for Guardians of the Galaxy for 8 am. We were having a great morning so far.

IMG_5123 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_5125 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

And in just the blink of an eye, our morning plan went painfully downhill. We were mistakenly standing in the large group of people in the widest part of the street who were being held until regular park opening, not realizing there was a separate line off to the side on the sidewalk separated by a rope for the onsite guests there for Early Entry. We didn’t realize this mistake until we saw those people start entering the park, and someone around us heard our confused discussion and let us know that we were in the wrong spot for Early Entry. Must have thought we were Disneyland amateurs!!

So our moods soured quickly as we joined the end of that long line to have our hotel reservation checked and realized we were going to have to quickly pivot. I actually don’t even remember what our game plan had been, and I even just asked DH and he doesn’t remember either. All we both remember is that we didn’t agree on what to do instead! I suggested tackling the rest of Cars Land since Mater’s and Luigi’s aren’t included with Genie+ so that we could ride them without long waits.

DH and DS were not on board with that plan, so we ended up deciding to split up. While DD and I went to Cars Land, the boys decided to go to Web Slingers.

DD and I had a great time on Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree together!

IMG_5131 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_5132 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

After Mater’s, we took some photos along Route 66 and went to get in line for Radiator Springs Racers. It isn’t part of Early Entry but we figured this might be the quickest way to ride without purchasing an Individual LL.

IMG_5145 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_5149 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

The kids decided they wanted to ride in the front seat with me and DH behind them, and we had a couple of single riders with us as well. DD was really excited to try this ride for the first time!

DD really loved it! And it was just as fun as DS, DH and I remembered! We were finished with this ride by 8:35 am, which was good all things considered. Then we decided to go over and try to get on Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters with a 20 minute posted wait.

IMG_0977 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_0978 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We waited a little less than posted and were on in 15 minutes. This ride brought back so many memories of our previous trip to Disneyland in 2017 when DD was just shy of 2 years old. This ride was a total HIT with her, and we rode it multiple times!

Day 5 Continued: Wednesday February 14th

IMG_5162 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_0982 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We needed to go use our Guardians LL, so we took the pathway from the exit of Luigi’s over to Avengers Campus.

IMG_0984 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_5165 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We ran into Lightning McQueen coming out to get to his meet & greet spot!

IMG_5170 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_0987 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_5173 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

There were Marvel characters ALL OVER the land! We saw Dr. Strange, Black Panther, and ran into Ms. Marvel, who stopped to chat with DD and asked her if she’d ever been to space. When DD said she hadn’t, Kamala asked her, “Do you want to come with me? I’m going to take the Qunjet! Also, quick question…Do you know how to fly the Quinjet??” It was a really cute interaction.

We headed into Guardians of the Galaxy to use our LL, and booked our next one for Web Slingers.

IMG_7450 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_5198 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

DD enjoyed it a lot more this time now that she knew what to expect! This time, we were rockin’ to “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”!

When we came out of the ride, we spotted Black Panther up on the catwalk, and Ant-Man meeting outside.

IMG_7451 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_7453 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_7455 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

In the meantime, Web Slingers had gone down, so our LL turned into a Multi-Experience pass and booked another one for Web Slingers for later on. The smell of cinnamon sugar from Terran Treats was calling to us, so DD and I ran over to grab a couple of churros to share.

IMG_5201 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We admired the Infinity Gauntlet cup holder while waiting for our churros to be ready.

Day 5 Continued: Wednesday February 14th

There was an upcoming Amazing Spider-Man! Show soon so we killed a little time in the gift shop while we waited for that to start.

IMG_7456 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Then it was time to see Spider-Man in action! This was a great show, and easy to grab a spot for.

IMG_7491 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We enjoyed the show a lot, especially watching Spider-Man fly over the building! But the kids didn’t feel like following to his meet & greet line. We walked back over near Web Slingers just as it reopened and the standby line hadn’t gotten crazy yet, so we hopped in.

I had DD model the WDW spirit jersey her godfather got her that we had paired with some really cute Disney100 leggings I had found just before our trip.

IMG_5225 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We had SO much fun on this ride! It was a fun & frantic free-for-all of web slinging and laughing! Our LL window was open by now, so we got right back in line for a second go-round.

After our second ride, we made a mobile order for lunch at Aunt Cass Cafe and booked our next LL for Monsters Inc. We headed to San Fransokyo to pick up our lunch, and spotted some graffiti. DD gets on little kicks where she starts asking lots of questions about a random subject, and her most recent one before this trip was graffiti, so of course we needed this photo!

Inside of Aunt Cass Cafe, there were lots of really cute little nods to Big Hero 6!

IMG_7515 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

IMG_7516 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

I mean…what is cuter than Mochi dressed as Stitch?!

IMG_5237 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We picked up our meal and went to eat alongside the bakery windows to watch them make sourdough bread while we ate.

IMG_5238 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Since it was Ash Wednesday, we were supposed to abstain from meat (we were also supposed to fast, but that didn’t happen…), so it seemed like the perfect meal to try the macaroni & cheese in a breadbowl.

IMG_7517 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

The mac & cheese was very good and creamy, then you get to devour the bowl. What could be better?! Both of the kids also got the kids mac & cheese, but of course we had to share our bowls with them.

And because we kept spotting little things all over the parks that reminded us of things DD says or does, we spotted this sign that said Nailed It! One of her favorite shows to watch on Netflix where people hilariously try and fail to recreate intricate cakes.

After lunch, DD wanted to buy herself some dessert with her snack money, so we stopped so she could get a Mickey bar. It was frozen solid!! She had to give it time to defrost a little before she could even bite it. So different from visiting WDW most other times of the year when you need to eat it as fast as possible before it melts and falls off of the stick!

We started making our way over towards Hollywood Land to use our Monsters Inc. LL next. The Lunar New Year flags with the characters were so cute.

There was a Photopass photographer that we stopped for before getting to the ride. DD’s Mickey Bar was front and center for all of these photos.

We also encountered a special guest!

Big Hero 6 was one of my son's favorites when he was little, so I was super excited that DL started to incorporate more of those characters in the park! I somehow missed that Aunt Cass's Cafe was there! I LOVE this so much!

The family pictures (with Mickey bar!) are so cute! Looks like they belong in Disney marketing!!

The face of that little kiddo in front of your family on the Guardians ride! So sad! LOL.

Great trip report!

Terrific family resiliency to recover so fast from the entrance snafu!

Those pictures are great, and I love the half eaten Mickey bar. You cannot get more Disney than that!
