March 15 Disney Treasure - Featured Disney Shows

I think they should scan KTTW cards to limit it one showing per guest if not all guests have the opportunity to see the show. We sail in less than a month and seeing Moana is already stressing me out.
No show on our very full spring break cruise was at capacity. I think the biggest stressor for people is their desired seating location. While there aren’t really bad seats in the Walt Disney Theater, I get that everyone has a preferred area.

Anecdotally, the Moana matinee seemed less full than the Beauty and the Beast matinee. I’m sure Moana being held while we were still docked at Castaway versus B&TB on a sea day was a big factor.

I completely agree, I think it is so rude if someone is going to see it 2x and making it harder for people who want to just see it once. It also makes that last night not as relaxing as it should be, with the stress of trying to see Moana. We just opted out. I don't feel like I missed out on anything at all, but we also haven't historically been to many of the shows on our other cruises either.

We normally do not care at all for the theatre shows. This is our 11th cruise and I have only seen 1 theatre show. I do want to see this one but I don't know if I am standing in line for an hour for anything.

I was on the March 15 sailing. We went to the 6 pm Moana show on night 7. The theater was maybe 3/4. We sat on the side balcony and there was only one other couple within 10 feet of us. You could walk in right before the show started and get several seats together as long as you didn’t need to be front and center. It seems really the lining up is for those who want to sit in the dead center of the theater. Now night 6 (the first showings) people were lining up 60-90 minutes beforehand. There were no matinee showings on our sailing.

I was on the March 15 sailing. The reason we did not have any matinees was because it was the last sailing of the first cast, and a new cast was using the stage during the day to rehearse. I hated it because we missed out on variety acts on the “repeat” nights which I usually look forward to, and my kids aren’t great at staying up late so I was really hoping for matinees. We had early dinner/late show and the crowds were bonkers and lining up 45 mind ahead the first two shows still got us terrible seats. We learned our lesson by moana and lined up 90 mins before and still had to sit halfway back on the lower level because of all the concierge guests filling seats (next time, I’ll do balcony), which I guess explains why it was so hard to get seats the first two shows. Makes sense why there would be more concierge with early dining given they have their choice of dining time regardless of when they book.

Anyway, long way of saying, it seems like it was an atypical situation due to cast turnover and the norm is one day per show with matinees.

Meh, I disagree. If someone wants to spend their time going to the show multiple times, they can. They sacrifice their nicer dinner or afternoon activities, let them.

I showed up to Moana 30 minutes before showtime (the one opposite main dining), walked right into the balcony and got a nice seat.

I agree with you! And also, I would hate for DCL to start doing something to limit this or having people make reservations as they sometimes do on RCCL. Trying to figure out how to see shows on a non-DCL cruise was definitely not my favorite. I especially appreciate that DCL sets up the schedules are opposite the dining times and not overlapping!

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. I would hate to see DCL limit AquaDuck/Mouse rides, how many times you can participate in trivia, how many characters you can meet, all with the aim to allow more people the opportunity without long lines, so I suppose it's the same for the shows.

And, it sounds like I probably could have gone to see one of them anyway, since it seems the line is more for getting "good" seats rather than for getting in at all. Plus, dinner on the night of Moana seemed like there were definitely more empty tables, so I guess people going to multiple shows is to my benefit to make it a little quieter in other places. :)
