I am traveling with my aunt and mom for a family trip and meeting up with some extended family, who is staying at the all star sports hotel.

I am a bit fussier about the room situation and haven't been on a vacation in several years.

My mom, aunt and I were considering the Swan, but then I found the DVC rentals-

Which DVC rental option do you think is best for three adults? Pros and cons would be helpful. I love the boardwalk area at nighttime, but open to other ideas too.

Well, will you, your aunt, and your mom want separate beds, or will two of you share? A regular hotel room will normally have two queen beds; some of the deluxe (maybe all of them, I don't know) will also have a smaller single bed, providing three sleeping surfaces.

DVC studios, which are most like a hotel room, have a queen bed and a queen Murphy bed that comes down over the couch OR a sofa that opens into a bed. Some of them, but not all, have a single Murphy bed as well, which may be twin size or may be smaller, like bunk size, and not comfortable for all adults.

DVC 1 bedroom villas will have a king bed in the bedroom and a queen Murphy or sofa bed in the living room. Some do have the single Murphy in the living room, but some (particularly Boardwalk Villas and Beach Club Villas, since you mentioned loving the BW area) do not have that single Murphy bed. (To make it more confusing, the studios at BWV and BCV do have the single Murphy!)

IOW, you need to look at actual floor plans for each DVC resort you're considering, to be sure the studio or 1BR will have the sleeping surfaces you want.

The other pros and cons come later!

Where will you be spending most of your time? If you'll be going to EPCOT and DHS, then yes the BWV and BCV area is great. If you'll be at MK maybe consider a monorail resort. PPs point about sleeping arrangements is also important to consider.

One of the biggest cons to renting DVC points is lack of flexibility and cancellation policy. Be sure to understand the limits and have a contract.

Also when is your trip? A year out? 6 months out? DVC availability can be slim in the fall months.
