Luggage question with DCL transport

We are taking the DCL bus from a WDW hotel to port (and back again). We will have 1 large suitcase, 2 backpacks, a small carry on luggage, and a small stroller (with no stroller bag) Can I put luggage tags on all of that (including the stroller) and put it outside the hotel room for DCL to pick up or will they not take the stroller or smaller items?

Also since luggage is taken from room to the ship (I hope that I am understanding that right), how do I tip the people handling my bags? Do I just tip the bus driver and he shares it or something else?

Not sure about the stroller, but I expect they will take anything with a tag. We usually tip the baggage handlers when they pick up the luggage…but that isn’t much help to you if you don’t plan on being around when they arrive.

I thought that luggage was picked up by Bell Services from inside the rooms, not in the hallway. That was the case when we’ve stayed at the MCO Hyatt pre-cruise, and I thought the same process applied for the WDW resorts. In that situation, we left the gratuity in an envelope on top of one of the bags, with ”Bell Services, thank you” written on the outside.

Luggage may travel from the resorts to the ship in trucks rather than on the buses, in which case, tipping the driver for luggage assistance makes little sense. I assume that whoever handles the unloading of those trucks at the port end are compensated as a non-tipped position, since they have no contact with the folks arriving to board the ship. I think of this as being similar to the old (sadly missed) luggage delivery associated with the former Magical Express service from MCO to the resorts. Bags were delivered to the rooms with no expectation that guests would be there at the time of delivery, so no tips expected. We always tip Bell Services when we have a way to manage it, but that luggage delivery would usually happen when we were nowhere near the room.

You will get messaging about the luggage pickup - ours was both by email and a hard copy letter at our room the night before. Luggage pick-up began at 7 am and we were told to leave items inside the room. They will collect anything with a tag. You can leave a tip on top of the bags if you are not in your room at 7 am. If you do not have enough tags or want to take your bags to the DCL rep directly, they will tag them in the hotel lobby. In our last two experiences, nothing went with us on the bus except day bags. Everything else went in a separate truck. But there were some people who had smaller roller bags they put under the bus. I assume it contained alcohol or something similar that had to be hand carried. If you are concerned about how the stroller might be handled you should take it with you and the driver will store it under the bus.

they will leave a letter in your room with instructions. Bell service will pick up luggage if it has a tag on it they should take it. We tipped bell services and the bus driver.

Anything you put luggage tags on at the Disney Resort will get taken and will show up in your stateroom on the cruiseship later. I would not put my stroller out with the luggage; I'd carry it on with me. The luggage that gets picked up and taken to the ship is handled roughly (I've watched it get loaded onto the ship and it's pretty ugly).

I've always been in the Resort room when they picked up my luggage and I tip then. I tip the bus driver; amount depends on whether I have carry on luggage that he loaded onto and off of the bus.

Agreed. This is a picture of the "sorting" process with newly arrived baggage. Basically, just tossed in the pile by deck, and then out to the rooms.

I’m not worried about the stroller being damaged. We got the stroller for a good price many many years ago. And I don’t plan on using it on the ship. I’m more concerned with getting 3 yr old DD through the airport with our luggage and from bus to hotel room and then back…I’m probably more concerned with way back cause our flight home is going to have us waking up at like 3am. I’m expecting DD to not be very awake or cooperative at that time of day and I just can’t figure a way that I could carry her, manage two pieces of luggage (one big and one small) and 2 backpacks…although I might leave her backpack at home but still don’t think it’s possible to do all that without a stroller to put DD in.
