Lost a good man today to alcoholism

Been there, not a fun thing to go through with anyone you care about.
Sorry for your loss

Lost my best friend from college to addiction. When I was younger, I used to think that the disease model of addiction was a bunch of bunk. But I know better now. Addiction stole my friend away. I'm so sorry for your loss. I think it's a different type of grieving.

We had friends who son died at 50 with wife and 2 kids. Strange part is twice he went to ER for alcoholism but never went to rehab even once, Its like everyone was in denial.. Sad part was once the kids got out of high school they each moved as far away as possible, not a happy childhood

How heartbreaking. My thoughts are with you as you navigate the coming days. Sending a virtual hug.

No names obviously. We were quoted 12 months. We got 3.

So sad :(
I am so sorry for your loss. A very good friend of mine has been battling alcoholism for many years, calling himself a functioning alcoholic. A few weeks ago, he blacked out while driving and went into a ditch. Luckily, his truck did not roll over and a motorist came along at some point and called 911. When they got there he had several seizures before they could stabilize him to take him to the hospital. By the Grace of God, that incident has scared him enough that he as vowed to stay sober. I will see him this weekend and I'm looking forward to seeing my friend in a healthy state.

May your friend's soul rest in eternal peace. ✝️

I'm sorry about your friend's son. However, was the family in denial? How do you know?
I ask because it's up to the addicted person to admit themselves to rehab, etc. unless a judge orders it.
Perhaps the son never thought he had a real problem.
It is a terrible thing for a family to suffer through addiction w/someone who doesn't think they have a problem.

NIC, I'm sorry for your loss.

I'd recommend getting medical help to stop drinking. With alcohol, going cold turkey can actually kill you.

I am so sorry for your loss. I spend every day worrying that my brother will end up the same way. We work together and it is the hardest thing I have ever experienced. A good man with a very bad problem, it breaks my heart. There is nothing you can do for them and feel helpless everyday. May your person rest in peace 😢

Happened to my brother in law a couple years ago. It really can be addicting to some people. Very sorry for your loss.
