January 2025 Check In Thread!

Hey there- we will be there January 28-February 2nd. We are there for race weekend. Staying at VDH.

My one and only trip to Disneyland was earlier this year, in early February. It was during that week where it was like....historic heavy rains. Major flooding. I think maybe the park even closed early on a couple of days. I wore a poncho, but I've never been so soaked in my life.

I'm hoping we avoid that level of rain for this trip. Cool, we can handle.
I went once in December when there was what was termed "an atmospheric river." It was almost like swimming and there was absolutely no way to stay dry. I had on every type of super rain gear but the wind and torrential downpour were more than my layers of plastic and rubber could handle. My sister and I were trying to get from Disneyland to the DLH to attend the Holiday Tea they used to have in the old Steakhouse 55. It was so ridiculous we just had to laugh, but how awful to experience that on a special family trip. I mean, ours is special but we go every year and we're just a couple of women with no particular agenda.

It's very difficult to predict anything weather-wise these days, but hopefully you won't encounter heavy rains. I often go at that time because my birthday is at the end of January, and while it might rain a bit, it's usually not a drenching downpour and burns off pretty quickly in my experience. However, it can be a guessing game and these day especially, "normal" is that there is no real normal.

I just canceled my solo WDW trip and rebooked for Disneyland! I just couldn’t get excited about DW this time around but I’m super excited now. 😍 January 27-February 1 staying in a deluxe studio at DVH.
Welcome! I hope you have an amazing time!

Welcome! I've been to WDW and DL in heavy rains. If you can stay warm it's not so bad, but my goodness, if you're cold it is misery.

We’re going January 19-24, MLK Jr holiday weekend. Any predictions on when Fantasmic and World of Color will be done? We’re trying to book Fantasmic dining at Blue Bayou.

We did January 2023, no rain and warmer than at home!

Blue Bayou likely won't have a Fantasmic package after the first week of January. It sounds like they are moving the Fantasmic dining package to Cafe Orleans.

Considering a 3 night from Jan 2-5..have been to wdw yearly, but dl only once last year..in Nov and was a bit chilly at night for me, kids were fine lol..how "cold" can it really be in early Jan, as in what should we pack to wear to the parks..i know to bring ponchos lol those are always a must for wdw too! I assume there will still be holiday crowds I should consider?

I've been in January a few times. Layers are your friend. I definitely watch the forecast before I fly out and base my outfits on that. And yes, you will still see some holiday crowds on those days.

Technically we check into DLH late 12/31, but our three park days are 1/1, 1/2, and 1/3, so I'm classifying this as a January trip. My husband and I went to Disneyland Park for one day 19 years ago, but otherwise, we're all about WDW. So we're really looking forward to celebrating the differences between the two with our three kids (who also have many WDW trips under their belts!)

I am a little afraid of the crowds as we generally avoid major holidays, but with three school-aged children, this is what we've got. We will have lightning lanes, but getting the family up and out early for early entry isn't going to happen.

I'll be there 1/29-2/2 for the race weekend! I'm curious to see how the weather will be this year since they moved the race back a couple of weeks. It was hot during late January this year but as we know, the weather can be anything this time of year. I'm also hoping they'll overlap Lunar New Year things even with the race since I know the food booths would partially be in the way on the course.

Welcome! Sounds like a great trip.

I'll be there January 3-5 (fly in on the 2nd) to celebrate my 50th birthday, staying at the Tropicana. I booked a VIP tour for Saturday. It's ridiculously expensive, still trying to wrap my head around the price tag, but it's something I've always wanted to do so I'm going with it. Saving expenses where I can, like staying at the Tropicana rather than a more expensive hotel.

We went a couple of years ago at the end of January and it POURED! Biggest piece of advice is to pre-book lunch and dinner reservations. You can look at the weather in the days leading up to your trip to decide what you want to keep, but that way you can have a warm, dry place to eat.

Welcome! And that is excellent advice.

Hi to my fellow January travelers! 🥰 Our family is booked for our Disneyland trip 1/4-1/9 staying at Park Vue Inn! We’re so incredibly excited and coming from Tampa!! Never seen the Christmas decor and overlays at Disneyland, so can’t wait to see the last couple days of the season! We’ll also be taking a day trip to Griffith Park Observatory in LA (taking an UBER)… so any advice on that would be appreciated! Excited for all of us- it’s almost here!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🏰🎆🎇🎄🎄

We are also staying at Park Vue and planning to stop at Griffith Park on our arrival day, so looking forward to your trip report! How old are your kids? Enjoy your trip, have so much fun!

After many many trips to the world, I'm venturing to the west coast for my first visit at DisneyLand! We are staying 1/14-1/18. Staying in the Villas at Disneyland Hotel. 15th will be Disneyland Park and then 16th California Adventure! Maybe we will run into some of you!

I'm leaving cold Vermont and heading to DL mid January. I will take it!

Oh- amazing! It’s our first time staying at Park Vue, so I’m looking forward to the short walk! Lol We are going to Griffith mid trip as a kind of “break” from the parks. I have 13 year old twin boys!! What about you guys?

We are on the younger side - 6 and 4. We lived right around Griffith park in Los Feliz for three years (without our youngest), so it’s a bit of a nostalgia trip. Not sure if mine can make it hiking all the way up, but you could! Starting at Fern Dell Nature Trail is great and you could stop at Trails Cafe on the way up or down. We might be more focused on the playgrounds, trains and carousel, opting to drive up to the observatory. We used to hike up all the time with our dog and oldest strapped to our chest!
