I have read that Test Track will reopen in 2025 ...but is there any info out there that is a little more specific?

LOL, when World of Motion closed down in 1996 to become Test Track, Disney said the new ride would open in 1997. It didn't open until 1998! So I won't believe an opening date of 2025 for the new ride until Disney posts something specific, and they won't post that until they're more certain that they can meet it.

My understanding though is that they are not actually chanigng the ride system itself. I think it's all a redressing. They may alter some of the programmed movements though. I don't think it will take as long as the original Test Track installation.

I hope you're right! As always, we can't do anything but wait and see!

Any new news on this? The fact that they said summer 2025 has given me hope (most likely false hope) for our first week of August Trip.
Last I heard they said "late" summer of 2025, so first week of August is iffy. Maybe if they're doing soft openings by then? If they say late, I'd guess sometime in September if not the last week before fall starts.

I'll be there the last week in September, and I'd be very surprised if Test Track were reopened.

I can’t help remembering when TT was first built. It opened a year or more later than projected. Of course that was a build from the ground up, and the computerized ride system was new and took longer to set up than they expected.

I remember getting some pictures of DS and a friend on the test vehicles for Tron thinking it must be coming soon. Well that was on a trip before the shutdown so I also don’t pay attention to their press releases until something IS actually opened :)

yeah, think Splash Mountain => Tiana

Which is why I have a hard time getting excited for Villains land or the AK Dino land rework or honestly any large project they say they're doing when even one ride refurb or something like a corn dog stand takes so long to get up and running.

I feel the same. I mean, they’ve been working on shade structures and expanding seating at Woody’s Lunchbox since 2023!!! And Journey of the Little Mermaid was supposed to have opened last fall. Sorry, just does not instill any faith in Disney following their own timelines. 🫤

I love disney but this is what I don't understand! Universal has created an entire new park with 5 different lands and 3 hotels in the time Disney took to put up TRON, which is basically an out of the box Coaster that they had already built at another park. We always made the excuse that disney needs more time because of the deep theming they do and universal just throws up a roller coaster and thats it. Epic universe is definately immersive in all areas. It is just really frustrating how slow they are at building.

I’m sure the answer is that Universal has more motivation to open Epic so they can go ahead and start selling tickets sooner. Therefore they are willing to throw money at it faster (rumored $7 billion for Epic). But if you leave Tron out, the differences aren’t THAT crazy. I don’t know what happened with Tron, that one was ridiculous. But from announcement to opening, Epic will take 6 years. Galaxy’s Edge took 4 years, Toy Story Land took 3 years, Guardians took 3 years. All of those were announced before ground was broken. Velocicoaster seemed to take a long time, they just didn’t officially announce what they were building until it was pretty much done, but I’m pretty sure its timeline was 2-3 years, if they had announced it at the point the others were announced.

I am optimistic that it will be "late summer" as that was the latest press release (which was an update from "late 2025"). Though I could see them opening it on Oct. 1st to line up with EPCOT's anniversary. I don't mind the wait. I haven't been much of a fan of TT, so if they can make more fully interservice scenes that honor World of Motion, I am all for it.
