How disrupting can resort construction be?

Hi everyone,

As per title, I booked a stay at Pop centrury for next November and the next day I saw that they are going to be having a pretty lengthy construction till 2026 for the rooms as most of may know. I was wondering for those who’ve stayed at a resort whilst construction is going on how disruptive was it and is it worth changing my reservation? I usually like to spend rest days at the hotel so not sure how annoying this will be.

Thanks for the help!

I think the best answer is "it depends".

I was at POFQ when it was under a soft goods refurb in 2018, other than a building being closed, it wasn't very impactful.

I find it way more disruptive to stay at a resort when the foodcourt, pool or lobby is under construction.

By next fall you’ll have an idea which buildings they’ll be working on when you’re there and you can request a building further away from the construction. So there will probably be zero issues. I’d stick with Pop.

It depends on what they’re doing, when they’re doing it, where they're doing it, and where you are in relation to that.

No way to give a more definite response than that, particularly a year out. If concerned, perhaps consider switching to a different resort.

Anecdotally, we were staying in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea a few years back. It’s usually a pretty relaxed place. That year, the adjacent motel (there are mostly beachfront motels, not hotels) was undergoing renovations. The work was during late morning to mid-afternoon hours. Wasn’t particularly loud. But, it was hour after hour, day after day. It significantly dampened the relaxed beach vibes.

If it was me going to Pop during major renovation, I’d try to discern my resort plans. There only to sleep at night = keep reservation. Planning to spend any appreciable time on property = consider elsewhere.

They’ll eventually be hep to that hack and probably charge more.

Stayed at Pop twice during their last round of renovations and barely noticed it. I was in a wing of a building adjacent to the work once too. This is going to be a soft goods and mid Reno. It will be fine.
