No. There's a chance you'll be assigned a Family Verandah when you book VGT, but they won't ensure that it'll be a Family. And I don't believe they'll let you book any Guaranteed stateroom for a party of 5.

It's unlikely that any Guaranteed rooms will be available for the Treasure anyways, since they only open them up when a ship isn't selling.

We booked an IGT and got a deck 2 Handicap Accessible room. It was huge, close to the midship elevator and the Enchanted Garden restrooms.

For our OGT: There were only a couple of oceanview rooms left so we were hoping to get bumped to a verandah near our VGT room, but knew it was a long shot. As it is we have 1 full porthole window instead of the 2 little ones, so we are happy about that.
For our VGT: ended up with a whitewall verandah, so a little bummed. Was hoping for the see-through verandah so that we could sit and still see out. Might see about an upgrade at the port.

Anxiously awaiting my first VGT assigned. I have never booked a VGT, I usually plan my cruise a year or so inadvance.

But, I was so itching to travel and I am bringing along my BF, who has never cruised before. So, VGT price worked for us.

23 days out. Disney Wish!

It will just show up- no notification. I find most VGTs are given between 14-8 days prior to sailing

SOMETIMES I've gotten a "Bibbidy Bobbidy Booked" email that doesn't actually appear like anything changed, but it's my clue to log in and check. I'd say that's happened on 2 of 5 GTY sailings. But it's definitely not a clearly-worded "Your Stateroom Has Been Assigned" email.

You will see it in the app when it is assigned.

Be prepared that it could be very last minute as well. On our last cruise with OGT we did not get the stateroom number until the afternoon before boarding the ship.
