Got called an ******* for getting off bus before the ramp was down for scooters

I'm missing something here. Usually (correct me if I'm wrong) the bus stops, driver has bus"kneel" he opens the front door and people are allowed to exit from the front and rear of bus. While this is going on, the EVC rider and party (or not) wait for the ramp, that's usually deployed after the bus is empty. So where was the OP exiting? from the rear door prior to ramp extension? or out the front - which begs the question why would anyone care? So I'm guessing the party was using the rear door prior to ramp extension, which if the evil party was miffed that the ramp wasn't deployed fast enough.

Been going to WDW over 30 years. It’s always the driver that decides if the handicaps or the ambulatory go first. I’ve seen both and I don’t know what criteria they use. You probably should have waited for the driver’s OK to exit the bus. They’re just trying to make sure no one gets injured and it’s not total chaos on the bus. That being said, the person that called you a name is just ignorant and unfortunately this is becoming more common. Don’t let it bother you. YOURE AT DISNEY WORLD!!!🥰😁👍👍
That tracks with the saying the only consistent policy at Disney is inconsistency. But really this should be consistent

I was exiting through the rear door prior to ramp extension

Sorry I haven’t been on this forum for 25 years and accumulated over 20k posts
Some people on this forum are historically a smart aleck to others. You just have to ignore them, like that person who was rude on your trip. They are all cut from the same cloth, it seems. :(

I hope the rest of your trip was great.

Just a side note: Disney does not have any kind of policy about guests being rude, name calling or cussing. If they did, many of the guests would have been banned already. They draw the line at assault, verbally attacking CMs, crossing legal lines, aggressive behaviors, etc. Unfortunately, there are a lot of real AHs in the world and you encountered one at that moment. Try not to let it bother you. Honestly, if you only had one negative encounter at Disney, you did pretty well. We usually go for 10 days at a time and see multiples of those a day.

Yea it is odd the type of gatekeeping. The rest of the trip was pretty swell.

  • Please show common courtesy to fellow Guests and our Cast Members by not using profanity or engaging in unsafe, illegal, disruptive or offensive behavior, jumping lines or saving places in lines for others. For your safety and the safety of others, please refrain from running except in designated areas.”
That’s what it says on their website. I honestly just don’t encounter it very often. Maybe it’s because I look intimidating, would probably explain why they waited until I got off to say it……….

And that’s just it. They didn’t confront you and say it directly to your face in an intimidating way. You didn’t even hear it. They probably muttered it out of frustration and moved on. That should have been it.

But you reported it to security, followed up with security, and weren’t happy with their response to the situation. You still haven’t answered the question as to what you thought security should have done about it.

My wife heard it. Security should have met with them and issued them a warning, this is Disney they can find anyone they want easily, especially a party just leaving a VIP tour.

I know your wife heard it. My point is, it was never said directly to you in a confrontational way.

Even the policy about this is vague. It just says please show common courtesy…..it doesn’t mention warnings will be given by security.

I mean if I overheard someone saying that about my wife it wouldn’t matter if she heard it or not, there would be a problem.

Meaning what? Would you get confrontational with them?
Best not to escalate it. That probably wouldn’t end well for either of you.
I think it’s just better to move on and ignore it.

i would call out their behavior and explain to them how inappropriate their remarks was and tell their dad and mother who were waiting in an EVC how disrespectful their adult child was.

Please explain why calling out bad behavior toward someone wouldn’t end well for either of us? If you don’t address bad behavior on the spot they will continue to do it. What do you think will happen?

Because you don’t know how that person will react. Maybe they would further insult you. Maybe they’d get physical with you. Maybe they’d say something that would trigger you to further react. Who knows? Things can happen quickly and someone might say or do something they’d regret in the heat of the moment.

You just never know. Lots of loose cannons out there.
