Girl Scout Cookies

The "Big Cookie Day" when the troops get cookies isn't until February 21st. Haven't been hit up yet for pre-orders so haven't seen prices yet. Anymore we just look for site sales.
My wife is a recovering troops "Cookie Mom". Amazing how many cookies a troop of just 10 girls can sell. And then ordering for site sales is always just a guess. My wife did pretty well, under ordered thin mints and samoas, and over ordered Lemonades, which are her personal favorite but nobody elses apparently.
In our area of SW FL booths are allowed beginning at 4pm TODAY. Our pricing is $6.00 and $7.00. I say our because I have been a Girl Scout for the 9 years that DW became a Troop Leader again. We've only had about 90,000 cookies at home so far compared to 225,000 a couple of years ago.

I guess they have to stagger sales so the bakeries can turn out all the cookies needed. I have heard there are vast differences in the same cookies from different bakeries used across the nation. I have never experienced this myself. Yeah our extra bedroom was floor to ceiling cookies the year my wife was cookie mom, again, with a small troop.

I don't even bother anymore. You can buy knockoff GS cookies at the grocery store year round now.

$6 here in MA. The troop gets $1.10 of that. More than half goes to the council, but they still just told us they “have to” raise membership fees to cover expenses.

After almost 15 years as a troop leader, dealing with all the dang cookies, I can't even stand to look at them any more. Zero excitement. Occasionally, when asked by the actual scout, I'll buy a box, but forget it if it's a sign up sheet at work.

I remember (not exactly fondly) my days as cookie manager for the 33 troops in our school district. Cookies came in on a tractor trailer and we had to use the local fire hall to sort them by troop. It was quite an event.

My great-nieces do some cool things with their troops, I am always happy to support them and my local neighbors by buying some cookies.
