Gift for high school graduation....my godchild/niece

Well it has been MANY years since I have been to a graduation!! My oldest niece is graduating this weekend and I figured like most 18 yr olds she would need $$$ more than anything....how much is an appropriate amount nowadays??? I want to give her enough of course but like most of the country I don't have an overflowing bank account right now!!

What are your opinions??

i just graduated, and the most i recieved from one person was 100.00 in gift cards to target and a large (expensive) george forman grill.

most people gave me 25-100 dollars.

All 3 of our neices got $100.00 for graduation.

I gave both of my nieces and my nephew $100 each at graduation. It was in cash, not a gift card.

My DD is graduating in a few weeks and she is also hoping for cash gifts. She needs to buy a computer for college and is hoping that she will receive enough cash gifts to pay for that when added together. But she will be very happy with anything she receives, especially since she knows my family is not big on cash gifts. She is much more likely to get a special engraved pewter mug with her name and graduation date. And she knows it from going to other graduations.

My nephew and dd just graduated and they got varying degrees of cash from people, cash is good in any denomination. I gave my nephew $50 and my dd $100.

My son just graduated and has got over $1300 so far. Grands gave him $300 and $600. Aunts/Uncles gave $50-$100, Friends gave $25. We gave him a laptop.
