First time back after Chemo - any tips?

So we are finally getting to take our trip that was postponed in September due to my DH's prostate cancer diagnosis.
He has completed radiation and chemotherapy and is on hormone therapy - all things considered he's doing great!
Obviously he is a little weaker and slower and is taking medication several times a day.
Has anyone completed treatment and planned a trip?
Does anyone have any thoughts or advise?

My DH and I visited WDW immediately after he completed radiation treatments for prostate cancer and started on hormone therapy. Since it was just the two of us, we were able to take it very, very easy. We had a DVC 1BR so got up when we wanted and took our time cooking breakfast and getting dressed. Genie+ was in operation, so I was able to book our favorite rides, and we limited ourselves to those, no standing in long standby lines. We spent more time at our resort and less time in the parks than normal, and we took more breaks for snacks and drinks or even just people watching on a shady bench. If he got tired, we went home - I don’t think we watched any fireworks or closed down any parks that trip. We were just so happy that his treatments had gone well, we simply enjoyed being at WDW and just did what we could, didn’t push it.

Best wishes for your husband and for you. Mine just got his last hormone shot this week, and we’re leaving Friday for a week watching our young toddler DGD enjoy her first trip!

Thank you for the good wishes, hope your husband is doing well! Have a great trip with your DGD, we haven't had the chance to take any of our grand babies yet, can't wait till they are a little older! This trip will be just the two of us for the first four days then we switch from the Swan to CRS for five more days. Our youngest DD is a senior in College and is playing in a softball tournament for her school so we will relax at the resort when we're not watching her play.
We plan on going much slower and taking rests back at the resort every afternoon then heading back out for a sit down dinner each day.

If stamina is a concern, you might want to rent an ECV for his use. You can rent one daily from Disney at any of the 4 parks or Disney Springs, or you can rent one for multiple days from off site. If he's never used an ECV before, here's a link to an excellent post by @mamabunny:

How To ECV at Disney World ™
Thank you for the link.
We have started walking and DH is comfortable doing a mile at a moderate pace, hopefully by the time our trip arrives he will be ok to do more.
We will definitely consider an ECV.

I was going to recommend and ECV too. A full day at one of the parks is a lot and the great thing about the ECV is that you have it if you want it and if you are fine walking, you can just park it in a central place where you are doing a few things.

The ECVs let my parents enjoy the Disney parks with us into their late 80s. They are wonderful and the parks are very ECV friendly. In fact when my dad's mobility was limited the only the vacation he wanted to do was an Orlando one: He loves Disney and SeaWorld!

Good luck to you. The hormone replacement is almost as difficult as the chemo, but the results are promising. Wishing you a speedy and complete recovery.
