Three Things...Gratitude Thread

FLASHFLOOD Rock

Our dry bed is flat and not dangerous. Currently it has about 12 inches of lose sand and awful to walk IN .. not on.. this is because of ATV sand vehicles using it as route to the Colorado river. When the flood happens all the sand is washed away exposing new rock that is pretty when wet...not so much in my garden work but still beautiful as plant borders

Solar string lights spread out the yard on desert border sculptures... invisible during the day but what a show at night... and they turn off by themselves 😁😁😁😁

Bougainvillea ... they bloom all year long and leave massive piles 😭 😭 of paper petals that blow around in the constant wind ... give the plant water and it will grow like Jack's bean 🫘 🫘 🫘 stalk....and the THORNS...no not PDX soccer ⚽ ⚽ but growing on the thick vines from the trunk ....that puncture you at any opportunity ......I have 7 over 6 feet .... looking for more...a weekly reminder of the bloody Thorn Crown

Working... hope this works..

Bill Murray
When I am in a nursing facility care unit and everyday is groundhog day ..I hope the staff will play it all day long..or it's still on cable ... it's one of the cultural phenomenon I miss and all the memorized dialogue quotes... still looking for that dajavieu tea

28 days...ask anyone on fixed income

The last time Ferro rocher candy will be on sale and those cherry candy surrounded by chocolate...oh no!!! 😞 😞 I work on the 15th

Out of the ordinary…

Uncommon celestial events.

Artistic creativity that’s like nothing you’ve ever seen

February gratitude…

Start of college softball.

Start of Mardi Gras season…food & festivities.

Nesting birds- They are in the building phase right now but I at least got a camera on them early so I can watch things develop.

Short month one of the last for winter ! 🥶 although you can’t tell today or tomorrow or weather it’s been absolutely gorgeous upper 60s and 70s❤️

We are done with the glitter decorating season luckily Valentine’s Day doesn’t have a whole lot of glitter decorations
Red is my favorite color !!

The month goes by really quick - before you know it - it’s March and Spring Break and Taxes !! It’s the little breather between year end and Taxes at work !!

Good Morning!

My girls didn’t watch a lot of Sesame Street and were never into Elmo, so I don’t know much about him. He does look very happy, friendly and very kind, so I’ll stick with that.

#1 - My Puppy - Otis is the happiest dog I’ve ever had or have ever known. You’d think his tail would get tired from wagging as much as it does - it’s incredible how much it wags. Happy happy happy!

#2 - My Mom - She’s one of the kindest people I know.

#3 - DD21 - She’s one of the friendliest people I know (she gets that trait from me :teeth:). Seeing her with people is like watching myself, and I’m proud of her for that. She can easily talk with everyone, which will be great when she finishes school and has her doctorate in occupational therapy.

I am not a Sesame Street fan and neither were my girls and I find Elmo annoying to a degree that I can’t mention here I’m sure he has good characteristics but they just come across to me is so annoying I don’t wanna be a Debbie downer here but he is one character I just cannot stand because he comes across his whining to me and I just cannot tolerate it

I did google him to see what characteristics he has…..

I’m all for being positive and excluding a happy attitude but not talking in a third person

So I will go with …….

My girlfriends who offer support but will be honest and tell me when I’m getting off the rails but have been there for me when I needed someone to be there for me it’s always good to have someone there in your corner for you and I appreciate them so much for that

My dog - always happy oh what’s up beat I can always count on him to be happy and cheerful and put a funny spin on just about anything

The funny antics my little zoo of two cats and one dog I created - the nightly antique see three get up to can be aggravating at times it’s absolutely hilarious you just gotta roll with it and I told myself I created the zoo to no one‘s fault but my own but to watch these three especially the female who tries to avoid the dog and the dog who keeps trying to buddy up to her is absolutely hilarious !! it’s very entertaining because she outsmart him every time!! She figures out a way to get around him so she can come snuggle up with me and he just never sees it coming it’s so funny !!

I forced a lot of Sesame Street on my kids (especially DD18) early on just because I loved it as a young child and still have a real soft spot for it as an adult. I went as far as getting several of the Old School dvds for them just because I missed some of the older content. The older content is also pre-Elmo. That being said, neither kid had major love for Elmo. Still, Elmo is linked to many other Muppets and Sesame Street memories so I'm going to extrapolate a bit for my gratitude. The reality is that Elmo is sort of an amalgam of the best of Sesame Street's most popular characters all blended into one and aged down for younger viewers.

Cookie Monster - He was and still is DD18s Sesame Street Muppet. His over the top passion for cookies made her laugh hysterically. It started for her in mid to late infancy and it was that intoxicating unfiltered laughter you hear in babies and young children. We had so many Cookie toys, which surprisingly often came with Elmo counterparts. DD16 never latched on to any of the Muppets the same way, but she does share at least a lot of "like" for Cookie. She recently went thrifting and saw a Cookie shirt that she really liked. Her friend talked her out of it, but after hearing about it, I insisted she go back to get it if she thought she'd wear it. It's one of those spin offs from "Straight Outta Compton." It's got Cookie on the front and it says "Straight Outta Cookies!" All of the Christmas stuff is packed up until next year, but I always love when I get to DD18s Lenox Cookie Monster ornament. It just brings back so many memories.

Ernie - Ernie is and will always be my favorite. Ernie was "the" Sesame Street character, from what I understand, until Elmo came along. Elmo possesses much of Ernie's positivity and optimism, but in a more juvenile and cuddly fluffy monster package. For as much as Ernie pesters Bert, he teaches about friendship and self confidence (among other things). I'd say DD16 is more of an Ernie kid. I think it was back in her 10U or 12U softball days...we wanted to do funny walk up songs from a favorite childhood show and Rubber Duckie was hers. While we no longer do walk up songs in travel ball, high school does them and it's tradition to give the freshman that make varsity something embarrassing. I know she pushed for Ernie's Rubber Duckie to be hers last year.

Preserved Content - In the early stages, this meant albums...even though I think they were originally more one-dimensional and looked at more for additional home entertainment learning options on top of the show. I think I've shared before how we used to take the various Sesame Street albums out from our public library. Still, I think with the advent of Elmo and a growing shift in content style from around that time, there appears to have been some urgency fairly early on to ensure that legacy pieces were preserved. The push for this greatly intensified after the passing of Henson. In any event, I am grateful that I can still find classics like this one below readily available for viewing online. It's also a little extra special because about halfway through, Henson and Oz have a bit of a flub. Rather than stop and re-record, they just work through the error and it was left as is for the show. I believe this is circa 1975.

Elmo is kind...
I remember Elmo's "How is everybody doing?" Instagram post going viral last year. - I'm grateful for people whose acts of kindness inspire others.

Elmo is enthusiastic...
I'm grateful for high-energy friends and acquaintances who get things going or jump at the chance to join in.

Elmo has red hair...
...and so do two of my nieces. I'm grateful for all my nieces!

It tickles me that folks race up to a red light on the intersection signal. But always grateful for folks in our poorly designed parking lot of our grocery store. They let poor sighted drivers back out of the parking space. They let cars pass through the block long crosswalk if they are the only pedestrian. And then the healthiest folks park far away and get in their steps and 99% of the time will corral the carts. We are all old and disabled in the parking lot

It tickles me that a ♥️ ♥️ big hearted woman has compassion for stray dogs 🐕 🐕 out of mexico. She has a belly laugh that brings joy. She also is a great resource for our. ill dogs... but because of the increase of violence in San Luis she has abandoned her mission

It tickles me to work with asst. Pastor on Wednesday dark 40 degree mornings. She greets everyone with Elmo enthusiasm has they pull up in their vehicle and and prepare for the vendor market. I been in the business for 40 years ...so a little jaded I am....yep... like those 2 on the flip side of Elmo...no one has ever wanted a plush toy of those old men
