Is anyone else excited for the return of this classic?

What a life changing show for the recipients!

after watching 'the dark side of reality tv' episode on the show I would hope anyone that considers being a participant does their research on it (so many tragic stories associated with it).

Agree so many tragic stories associated with it from property taxes being increased due to new value of property to the of quality construction where things were falling apart due to the intensity of the construction. Hopefully this time around, better precautions and steps are taken.

the ones featured on the show I watched shared how all the 'extras' ended up ruining them financially when it came to utility costs. I hope with the horrific increases in utility costs since the original show aired there is consideration given to that.

Would love to see these same shows 10 years later - where are they now....even for House Hunters/House Hunters International, people who buy vacation property to vacation and rent, etc. etc.

I always wondered how they would be able to afford the upkeep.

Most of them didn't. There is a series talking about it- Dark Side of Reality TV- Extreme Home Makeover. Most ended up with less than they started with.

I wondered that too when watching the original shows. People who seemed to have trouble making ends meet end up with something that would likely cost them FAR more to maintain. Never clear where the money to do that would come from.

I saw the documentary and felt so bad for those families. Especially the one little girl who *only* asked that the pediatric cancer ward in the hospital where she had been treated, to be made over. But the bafoons running the show decided to literally DEMOLISH the family home and build a ridiculous mini mansion for the family. They interviewed that little girl now (so happy she survived) and she told it from her perspective which was very interesting.

I highly recommend this series “The Dark Side of Reality TV”. Each episode covers a different segment of reality tv, including Season 1 from Survivor.

I think that, unless they’re giving these families funds to keep up with their new homes, they have some damn nerve bringing this show back.:sad2:

I will search for this.
it's on Vice TV but I believe you can stream it on Hulu

we just watched the final episode the other night. i really wanted them to do one on the families that were on 'wife swap' and 'trading spouses' (not the celebrity episodes). maybe if they do a second season.
