Everything Virtual Queue - Please Read Post 1

Need the opinion of the community for how to try tackling the TRON Virtual Queue. I have a park hopper ticket for tomorrow, and I saw that some users here have successfully managed to get virtual queues for both Cosmic Rewind and Lightcycle Run on the same day. Following the information here, I currently have Epcot reserved first and plan to switch to Magic Kingndom after (hopefully) obtaining a Cosmic Rewind VQ in order to get a TRON VQ; I saw that someone mentioned that TRON VQ haven’t run out as fast on party nights.

Some quick questions:
1). Considering that it is a Sunday/on the weekend, is it more likely that TRON will run out before I can switch over (despite it being a party night)?
2). If so, should I just try for TRON first?
3). Does the 1 PM VQ for Cosmic Rewind run out quickly, or does it stay around for a while? I am thinking that if it stays for a while I could try to get one after getting in at 2:00.

Four of us are going to try to get VQ at 7am. We will all be trying at the same time. If one of us successfully gets a boarding group, what will the other 3 of us see? Will we get an error? Will it tell us we already have a boarding group?

My experience with Tron and GOTG VQ during my recent trip (early September)

Tron
- 7am VQ, Group 20, called at 9.15am, waited 10 minutes to ride
- 1pm VQ, Group 111, called at 4.55pm. I was actually in Disney Springs at that time! I decided to try to get back to MK but only got into MK around 6pm-ish. Joined the queue at around 6.13pm (a bit over 1 hour 15 minutes after the VQ time) but only actually tapped in at 6.27pm (over 1 hour 30 minutes after VQ time) due to how long the queue was before it got to the tap points. The tap point still turned green though! Overall I think I waited around 45 minutes in the queue.
- 6pm VQ, Group 170, called before EEH started. Went straight to Tron at start of EEH (not long after 10pm), zero wait to ride.
- 7am VQ, Group 1, called at 8.45am. Went straight to Tron and got in line before 9am (still during early entry time). Zero wait to ride, there were still empty seats on my train.

GOTG (didn't note the group numbers)
- 7am VQ, entered queue line around 10-11am but it was quite long, around 30-45 minutes I think. We think they might have opened the ride later than normal that day (think took a while for Group 1 to be called) which may have made the wait times longer in general.
- 6pm VQ, entered queue line not long after start of EEH (9pm), don't remember much of a wait if any.
- 7am VQ, entered the queue line sometime in the afternoon but can't remember how long I waited. Don't think it was too bad, so probably around 30 minutes or so.
- 1pm VQ, entered the queue line around 8pm, waited around 30-40 minutes to ride.

What park are you going to first? If you are starting in MK I would try for Tron first. If you’re starting in Epcot then I would try for Guardians first.

If you’re not starting in MK first and get an early VQ then you won’t be able to use your VQ if it’s called before you can enter the park.

Assuming I get that one, quickly switch reservations to MK for TRON and hope that the VQ group in far enough that I can get in past 2:00. Then switch back to Epcot to spend the early morning there, hopefully get an early Guardians so I’m not jumping around a lot in the afternoon.

I did exactly this 3 weeks ago for our family. It was a quieter time in the parks and worked out wonderfully. Hope you’re successful too!

I’m sorry. 1:00 Guardians normally is a great option for those already in Epcot.

Not sure, just saw a story about it. Sounds like they had a big crowd before opening (which Disney was probably expecting), somewhat of a repeat of the Figment M&G. Scott Gustin is saying that they'll be using it on an "as needed" basis, so I wouldn't necessarily expect this to turn into a Guardians/Tron situation.

Following up from earlier, missed the Tron and Guardians drop at 7, so I went to Epcot at opening and enjoyed the morning. Did Soarin, Living with the Land, Figment (the line for that meet and greet afterwards is still quite long), the Seas, Ratatouille, and Test Track…TT ended up going too long and I missed the 1 PM Guardians VQ drop. Thankfully, the cast member at the front gave me a special dose of pixie dust and let me in the ride. I ended up really enjoying that ride; it’s like Space Mountain on steroids. After Guardians I got to do the Moana walkthrough; the lines for that was indeed insane, particularly for the annual passholders. Though as a DVC member there was a much shorter line to get a return time. The walkthrough is alright; kids will enjoy it more, but the adults will likely enjoy for the refreshing water on a hot day (plus, the Moana meet and greet that will be there when it opens)

Left Epcot around three and went to Magic Kingdom. Rode Buzz, Carousel of Progress, TTA, Philharmagic, and Big Thunder. Tried TRON to see if I’d get the same pixie dust twice in a day, no dice. But at least I got to see the finished Ride exterior and the gift shop. Speaking of, that place has Galaxy’s Edge level of merchandise there; disks, jackets, backpacks to hold the dials, helmets, character ID cards to use with the disk, an RC bike toy, and so much stuff for the original Tron too.

But I wasn’t done yet though! Took the bus over to Hollywood, experienced Star Tours, Muppet Vision, Smugglers Run twice, Rise of the Resistance, and Fantasmic. It’s great being able to ride Ride of the Resistance without a VQ now. Fantasmic is really great post refurb, with the great new scenes and improved effects.

So, unfortunately no Tron, but I got to do everything else I wanted and then some, so the day was plenty enjoyable enough as it turned out. Thanks to you folks here that gave bots of help where you could.

I witnessed an exception for someone being extremely late for Tron. The guy was allowed in more than 3 hours late, and when asked, he said that traffic was extremely bad. I later asked him about it, and he said he was aware that they weren't making exceptions and thought he give that excuse a try and be prepared to be turned away.

Hoping this is the right place for this question. My husband and I plan to ILL both Tron and Guardians of the Galaxy but our daughter (13) does not want to ride either. So will they allow rider swap with an older kid? I'm not comfortable letting her hang out by herself outside the queue for us so I'm hoping we can rider swap. Also how would that even work with an older kid?

I was also allowed to use my wife's VQ and I ended up riding about 10x on Tron a few weeks ago. A typical day was riding Tron twice then hopping to EP to ride GotG late. We actually PH to MK one day and forgot to check for a VQ until nearly 5pm and still got one... a night ride. We bought G+ only once in 8 days and never bought a ILL.

There were several people who got a BG for GotG and were concerned about making it time. I was able to use what I learned here and put them at ease about returning later. One day we had BG 3 for GotG and rode around 8pm. It turned blue, but after a slight hesitation, I was good to go. However, I quickly learned that if I can help it, I wasn't going to ride GotG late evening given the congestion with all of the park hoppers' slots and people who wait. Every night we saw very long wrapped around lines outside in late evenings, and it once took me 80 minutes from a start that was just barely outside the door around 7-8pm.

I don't see any age limits, it's just if a child can't or doesn't want to ride, like in your case. Someone here probably has the data point to answer you for certain.

If the adults both have ILL, they may just have one adult go and the other wait with your kid and then go through LL. When we had G+ for Soarin, we asked for RS so that we wouldn't have any time limit concerns and they wouldn't... they just said to simply take turns going. They would only give us a RS if we didn't have the LLs. Not sure what would have happened had we shown up with the request near the end of our allotted time though.

If you are purchasing ILL$ you don't need rider switch as ILL$ and rider switch use the same entrance. Have one parent ride then when they're back, have the second parent ride. Rider switch would only be needed in the case of a VQ.

I honestly am not sure about the rules for rider switch for an older child who does not wish to ride. I think you could get it but am not positive. It would be worth asking when needed.
