DVC 1,000 Point Club (2025)

Every time I feel that I may have too many points and consider selling a small contract, I get drawn back to this thread, realize how close I am to hitting 1000 and immediate start looking at adding. 🤣 Thanks everyone!!
Between this thread and the Fixed Week thread, this board is devastating my savings.
By which I mean, my kids won't be going to college 🤣.

I'm kicking myself for just having purchased 100 at RIV and not going with the similarly priced FW 36-39.

Now I'm thinking about Poly, but should wait to see what LSL looks like.

You know I’m all in on FWs! 🤣🤣

Played the dangerous game of "How much would I pay in dues if I stopped adding on after [contract]?"

If I had never added on, I would have only been paying $1,744 in dues this year. If I had stopped after first breaking past 1,000, then 'only' $8,856 in dues.

Alas, dues add up y'all...

Also, might be a new contract in there...

Very true!
My spreadsheet shows me peaking at around $30k a year in 2041, before I drop 300 points with my 2042 contracts. Those numbers get big.. and that’s assuming 5% dues increase per year… could well be more as we all know.

I'm curious whether you own the most points at a single resort. I think you might.
I’ve always assumed there were folks with big holdings in VBR because of their low entry cost per point.

My guide has told me when I’m ready to own over 4000 points at a single resort he would be willing to help me with the approval process. I think he has more aspirations of my future success and DVC budget than I do.

He said he has a few clients in that situation. Apparently you get to chat with some senior leaders at DVC and they say they will monitor you with a bit more scrutiny for commercial rentals and want to know what your plans are to own that many points. If they like your story and they know you understand you still will have no real say in the association you can go higher.

I wonder if this "we're gonna overindex on talking to mega-points owners" process contributed to DVC's decision to make the CCV Cabins and PVB Bungalows...

And I also don't know what I would do with 4k points at a single resort. I do foresee a path to us using ~3,700pts/yr, but even that is 53 nights across 9 resorts. I'm guessing members say stuff like retirement and hosting lots of family?

I'd bet the idea from DVC and Disney's perspective is that they are good marketing for the product and it’s also expected that a large percentage of the flagship rooms will be open for rental or breakage, people will exchange in for a cruise, etc.

There is likely plenty of people making last min dream trips with the family who just splurge for that expensive room at cash rates less a “discount” of 25 or so percent.

We use a good portion of our points to bring friends and family and our reunions use a good 1600 to 2300 points every few years. The few examples of owners who have these massive buckets of points are well off business owners or pastors of wealthy churches who use these as get away perks for their employees or for events for the congregation.

The entire month of February in an Aulani Grand Villa is 3294 points.

The entire month of February and March in a 2BD OV is 4074 points.

The heart wants what the heart wants….
