UPDATE: I just figured out how to change the subject line of this post since I got an update. I just called my doctor because I didn't remember what candy. They said it was pop rocks that had a meth drug on it. Tell your kids not to take pop rocks from their friends.
I'm just going to get my kids a bag or two of their favorite candy for Halloween, we don't need candy from strangers.

what drug substance on what candy? A quick google brought up no information.

Um ~ we TOT in my mom's neighborhood - most of her neighbors could be her parents or much older siblings. We also attend chuch with them - I'm not worried about the candy they'll give to my children.

As long as it's store bought candy and wrapped I don't see the problem with it:confused3

Strawberry quick is not new. It's been around for several years now. I wouldn't be worried about packaged candy.

If my doctor was actually stupid enough to believe and report to others that sealed packages of Pop Rocks contained a Meth drug- it would be time for a new doctor. :headache:

Every single year, since I was a kid (and I'm 48!), there have been "scares" about Halloween candy. When I was a kid, it was razor blades or LSD hidden in the candy.

When my friends kids were kids (20+ years ago), the scare was acid, LSD, or mescaline hidden in candy or on those fake tattoos.

10 years ago, it was something else.

Of course, nothing was ever found, no news stories about any kids getting drugged, sliced up, or dying from their Halloween candy.

Now, it's "methamphetamine" in Pop Rocks. :rolleyes1

If you're that worried about it, don't take your kid trick or treating. Just have a home party or a school party or just go to homes of people you absolutely know. Some malls also have Halloween things for little kids where they can trick or treat at the stores.

just don't eat pop rocks and drink a coca-cola...

now that'll mess you up.

( ;) )

MTE

I'm just wondering, is there some statistics that show just how many kids are poisoned or killed because of Halloween candy each year? I have been hearing horror stories my entire life, except I can't recall a single one of them actually being in the news. I never found a razor blade in any of my apples either. I just can't imagine that drug users 1) would waste their drugs on some Halloween candy or 2) that drug users are out to hurt kids :confused3
If someone is so worried about this stuff its probably better to no trick or treat at all.

Not sure why this thread is on the Budget Board?

According to Snopes and several other sources, there has NEVER been a confirmed case of a child getting sick/poisoned/drugged from halloween candy from a stranger. EVER.

I am not going to worry about it.

No offense to the OP but I was thinking that too.
