Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER RESORT Information & Questions

We are staying at POFQ in January to run the runDisney WDW Marathon.
We are booked in a Standard View Room. My in-laws booked Garden View Room. MIL's reservations says "adjoining rooms requested." It is important to us to be close to the in-laws because they will babysit our child one night and after we run the marathon I was planning on using our bathroom and DH would use his parents' bathroom. Ideally, both rooms would have a bath tub for post-race recovery.
Other things that are ideal requests for us are:
Ground Floor, Close to bus stop (Building 4)

What are the chances of these requests lining up? and how should I actually request it? Call the main WDW phone number?

Also, to confirm, will lotion be provided at the bathroom sink?

Is my understanding that to get adjoining or connecting rooms you have to be in the same room category. I could be wrong. I went with my daughter and sister in August and we requested connecting rooms and my sister nearby. My daughter called to stress this. We ended up getting three rooms in a row. That was our only room request. I would call Disney to confirm, but that’s a lot of requests to fill. I would limit it to the most important thing to you.

Agree with pp that having different room categories will limit availability of getting connecting or adjoining rooms.

I would definitely pick your top 2 requests and call to have requests added. Make sure both rooms note "traveling with conf#" and maybe add requests of "adjoining, tub please." I think denoting ground floor or Bldg 4 will be so limiting that I would personally leave them off. It's such a small resort and all of the buildings have elevators. Being near your family and the tub will probably be more needed. If adjoining isn't available, I think the assigner will try to at least get you as close as possible.

Adjoining rooms could mean around the corner (or even back to back) so different Booking Categories could be accommodated - although more likely they'd just upgrade the Standard to a Garden View for allocation convenience. However I suspect *connecting* rooms would be more useful to you, to allow sharing a bathroom and popping back and forth via the internal door when babysitting the kids. Also remember that at French Quarter with the new refurbs, you could have rooms with walk-in showers rather than tubs. Make sure your two bookings are linked as "travelling with" on the reservations in advance.

Any update on room refurbishments? We are doing a Mardi Gras trip the first week of March. Do we think that the FQ renovations will be finished by then?

There may possibly still be one building being worked on (building 5 will be the last) but there won't be any old-style rooms still available so you will definitely get a refurbished room by then.

Thank you so much for your responses. I called and confirmed that we were connected by "Travel With" and the CM put in a request for bath rubs on both rooms. I explained why I wanted the tubs too, so maybe he added that as explanation to help the room assigners.

Yes. At least this is true for me. Our two favorite resorts are AKL and POFQ, and since the price of everything has gone up so much, we're at POFQ a lot, and we love it there. I prefer it to Riverside, which is sprawling and has several internal bus stops. FQ is compact, everything is close by one's room, the buses aren't shared, and beignets. It's also an easy walk to Riverside if you want to go to their restaurant, or just have a walk. Both resorts have boat service to DS.

ETA: It is not a deluxe resort. And if what you're used to is being able to walk to one or two parks, you won't have that at any Mod. However, POFQ is only a 10-12 minute bus ride to either Epcot or DHS.

Would the French quarter pool or the riverside pool be better for 2 adults? Who want some relaxation

The main pools particularly. We are use to AKL pool so this will be an adjustment lol

Also, there's only one pool at FQ. POR has at least one "quiet" pool (I've walked by it--maybe there are more) as well as the large pool.
