Resort Thread Disney's POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT

If your studio doesn’t have the one you need, call housekeeping and ask for it. They should be able to swap it out.
That is what we had to do at POP Century a few years ago. It was like we were asking them to run a marathon so was hoping to avoid it.
We are planning check in in person around 10 am so hoping to just request it then but concerned that might take priority over our 3rd floor request. Maybe its better to get to the room then if its not in there calling and requesting.

Given that small fridges are listed as standard equipment in DVC studios (see below copied and pasted from WDW website), you should be able to get one without the hassle you had at Pop, which specifies “beverage cooler” only.

Poly DVC Deluxe Studio:

Comfortable accommodations: includes 1 full bathroom (2 showers), kitchenette with small fridge and microwave, and a porch or balcony.

Are the "beverage coolers" in DVC studios really small fridges just without a freezer or do they only cool to 41 like the other resorts with beverage coolers?

Thanks for that info!

DVC studios are not supposed to have beverage coolers, which only cool to 41°, no colder.

They’re supposed to have small fridges, which can cool to 37° or lower and should also have a freezer. But as you’ve read there are reports of DVC having beverage coolers, and I’ve read of guests calling and having the cooler replaced with a fridge.

We’re currently staying in the Tower in a one bedroom - and man, the main bedroom is dark!! They really need some more lights in there.

I have to say… I’m not loving the Tower. I’ve always wanted to stay at the Poly, and it just doesn’t feel like part of the Poly. It feels like a modern, beige tower next to the Poly. Our preferred view is of the lovely roadworks… We would have loved theme park view but it wasn’t in our budget unfortunately.

No concierge desk, no merchandise store, no real vibe yet… The whole thing just doesn’t feel very Disney-ish.

The location is fab and it’s great to have access to the restaurants / amenities of the Polynesian, but we won’t be rushing back to the Tower.

It is just like the BLT, have you stayed there? The bulk of the optional features you mentioned ware in the GCH so not sure that they should duplicate them?

Did you miss the pendant lights in the bedroom, and backlit headboard?

I haven’t stayed at the BLT, no.

There are no large pendant lights in the main bedroom… Just the backlit headboard which is very dim, two lamps and the teeny reading lights. The teeny reading lights are the brightest part and without them, we would have to use our iPhone torches to find our pjs!

Not a major issue as we’re only in there to sleep anyway, but just thought I’d mention it.

I honestly think a theme park view would really help it feel more Disney-ish and like we were “part of the action”.

Regarding the newly opened Wailulu Bar and Grill - Could you bring food from Captain Cooks and eat there for breakfast with a purchase? Or for lunch if you brought in chicken tenders for the kids and made an adult meal purchase? thanks!
