But travel in general has become insanely overpriced. Some travel deflation is well overdo.
And I think it is happening - at least in Florida at the non-Disney properties... The other hotels are returning to more reasonable levels in Orlando from what I can tell...

I'm surprised direct sales are going as strong as they are right now given so much change and uncertainty.

Makes me almost think resale will stay the same now because direct is so high and some benefits, at least for us, like out of the country member cruises on direct seem less appealing as my wife is a legal permanent resident with a squeaky clean record, yet our attorney has advised us not to leave the country for the time being.

Too many uncertainty in the world right now!

Remember that sales reports are a (slightly) lagging indicator. The March data includes sales decisions made (mostly, but not entirely) in February or earlier. Things didn't start going seriously sideways in consumer sentiment until March.

I am VERY curious to see what the next set of direct incentives look like. I suspect they are having a lot of discussions right now about where things are heading. But with so much uncertainty, it’s possible they stay the course for a bit longer.

I would anticipate they wait until summer for bigger incentives.... Keep in mind they can adjust them at any time...

Agreed, I think they would wait for a slowdown to actually happen before drop prices.

I could also see them cracking down on “commercial renting” more if they believe it is taking too much away from the hotel side.

As long as we're talking about how the economy is affecting DVC, here's how it's affecting cash rooms on property. If you flip over to the cash side, there are some very low rates on property for late August. I'm never opposed to good deals at the moderates.

I was simply looking with the annual pass discount. There might be better deals. But...

$278 for SSR.
$194 for Coronado Springs
$206 for Port Orleans
$97 for All Stars
$294 for Cabins

If you're low on points and want to go in August, you might want to check the regular WDW site. If you place the value of an OTU point at $20, Saratoga is a near wash--14 points (equal to $280 in OTUPs) or $278 in cash. Yes, for transparency, Disney is forced to charge tax on cash stays. Coronado would be just under 10 points (equivalent in cash) for weeknights. Port Orleans just over 10 points. All-Stars (sports) under 5 points (equivalent) for weeknights. Admittedly, All-Stars are a huge step down from a DVC studio, but I think there are some interesting upsides at Coronado: lovely walking/running loop, solid pool, sangria at Three Bridges, and Toledo in the tower (with its Michelin recommendation). Also you don't have the extra evening hours with the moderates.

I'd love to know how big a hit Disney and other Orlando-area attractions are taking from Canada/UK/Europe/Latin and South Americans canceling travel (and by extension not buying DVC.) I am reading Canadian travel is down 70% on flights, and the U.S. detaining students and vacationers is getting a lot of (justifiable!) bad press overseas. I have seen a few Canadians refer to selling their contracts on the boards in the recent months, and I can see more contracts being dumped.

There may be a glut of contracts up for resale in December/January of 2026 when dues come out and we have a full year of uncertainty baked in. 2042 (2041, really) will be at the magical 15 years mark. Those may start taking a real dive.

For direct, I'm thinking there may be some fire sale happening to finish selling out RR/Poly to ramp up for LSL. RR/Poly are pretty small to begin with, and RR is already at 75-80% sold anyway.
I'd love to know this as well! The Spanish news is rife with these detainment stories every day, dramatic as they always are 🤣🤣

It is still concerning and my wife's mother who lives in Mexico called us worried about us traveling with this timeshare (she doesn't realize most of it is in the USA and thats not an issue) so I would think sentiment is definetely lower for others as well

I will be very interested to read the next report!

$20 for SSR points within 7m?

What a terrible deal…. and obviously the hotel rooms have taxes that may need to be added and no extended evening hours.

BUT, comparison to DVC aside the rates look very reasonable…. if you are OK being in the depths of hell that is C. FL in AUGUST…

I was out to the LSL site in March. It's going up VERY quickly. The tower should be done before 2027. This probably means there's a lot of peripheral structures around the tower that need to be built once the big structure is done: restaurants, cabins, hopefully an elaborate pool.

This is has been the average price I always remembered seeing price wise in April and August before I was DVC which hasn’t been that long, (except the cabins)

I'm just putting up the comparison. Also, my problem with renting points or confirmed reservations is that it is nearly impossible to change them. For me there's a cash value to flexibility. I doubt renting points would lower this by more than 20%. Again, to each his own. WDW reservations are fully cancellable within their timeline. For a room, I believe it's fully refundable if you cancel five days before your stay. But yes, to each his own. And you can probably rent points for less.

I did point out both these downsides in the original post. For me the loss of evening hours...especially in summer...is significant.

Yes, August can be brutal. Absolutely. At the very end of the month Food and Wine will be going.

I don't disagree. In 2022/2023 rates shot up a lot, even during low periods, for the "pent-up demand" period. The pendulum has now swung the other way.

I saw similar prices for june and july with the ap discount!
We actually are trying a split stay both months to try a value and moderate.

FWIW - Pop and AOAi (with the skyliner) are far nicer than the All Stars and probably worth the extra bucks. All Stars are also where Disney tends to put school groups performing/playing at Wide World of Sports

My opinion of the moderates in terms of their strengths--

Coronado, with Toledo, Three Bridges, and the gin bar - best food and drink of the moderates / Downside, bus only

Port Orleans - best atmosphere, landscaping, and entertainment (Yehaa Bob, if he's performing). Downsides, smaller pools and sorta cramped.

Caribbean Beach - skyliner, pool, and Sebastian's Bistro is underrated and modestly priced. Downsides / it's massive, you may need to take a bus to get to the Skyliner or pool or even a resort bus to get to a park bus. The "walking factor" here would make this less desirable in summer heat.
