What causes your heartburn? After 47 years of being able to eat whatever I wanted without any issues, I just started getting heartburn. I did some reading, and I think I have the problem narrowed down to chocolate consumption. The other top causes aren't an issue for me. I don't eat right before going to bed. I don't eat much in the way of fatty or fried foods. As for caffeine, I don't drink carbonated drinks or tea, just a little coffee, not even a whole cup a day. I don't consume a lot of citrus because it gives me sores in my mouth when I do. I think the culprit is my favorite food, chocolate. In some for or another, I eat or drink it every day. I put chocolate chips in my oatmeal, my bear mush, pancakes, and waffles. I put cocoa in my coffee. I eat a half cup of ice cream most nights, and every flavor I eat includes chocolate.
It's going to be difficult, but I'm going to go chocolate-free for a week and see what happens.
Anyone else get heartburn from chocolate?
