Cats & Bats & Healthy Chats - October 2024 W.I.S.H. Thread

Hi Ladies!!! I had a terribly busy week at work and it was a short week so it was the workload was intensified by only having 3 days to take care of everything!!!

My why to staying healthy is also aging-I want to stay flexible and mobile and for me and my genetics that means watching my weight and exercising!!

Going to whoooohooooo a great craft fair with my favorite people, we had a great time on Thursday!! I am not home at the moment but I will take pictures of my purchases…80% are Disney related lol!!

Thankful that DH and I get to spend time together this weekend!! Things have been hectic but this weekend is for us and we are enjoying it!!

Heading out now but will work on social Saturday hopefully tonight!!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

I have never heard of the Dopamine menu, but I do love the idea! I did mine in Word as well and will definitely try to update over time. Some of your ideas applied to me as well, so I put them on my list too. At first it was hard to think of things, but I think it will get easier when you consciously think about them throughout your day.

Here's what I've come up with so far:

For Social Saturday today, let's make Dopamine Menus.

I've been seeing this concept floating around social media a lot lately, but but if you haven't heard of them, here's a quick video explanation:

(Or an article if you can't play sound right now:
https://thenutritionjunky.com/dopamenu-how-to-create-your-own-dopamine-menu/ )

And some examples/templates:

You can post a photo of your completed menu if you'd like, or just write about whether you've heard of the trend, what you think of it, and a couple of things you put on yours.
dopamine is a big deal for me so I’ll have to do this when I get home.

Waiting to board the plane and start the final legs of the journey home. The ride from the train station to the airport hotel was very stressful last night, mostly due to not being able to pick up a connection on my phone. Staying at the airport hotel last was a big win, it was so so nice to just walk out the door and be there.

I have a lot to process from this trip. One of the big ah ha’s is that the intrusive thought spiral I get in to isn’t an all the time thing, it is a stress/disregulation thing and knowing this I’ll start approaching it differently. And now I know the basics of working with my paints.

Self care today will be traveling home from our weekend trip to Coco Beach, FL.

We had the best time and absolutely wonderful weather, food and drinks!

Today the rain actually woke me up and it is so so so ugly outside so it won’t break my heart too much to head home in a few hours!!

I hope everyone has a great day!!

Is it still Sunday? Currently sitting in Dallas killing time during my long layover. My self care today is to have apples and grapes for a snack then to try to sleep a bit on the flight to Seattle. After I get out of the airport it is a two hour drive to home and I really need to stay awake for that. Being driven around has been great but I’m looking forward to being in my car and in control. And to seeing my girlies.

My self-care has been my normal laid back Sunday routine - started with church and then lunch at my mom's and dinner with my inlaws. Tonight we ate out instead of at my MIL's because their community had a duck race for a school fundraiser. If you've never heard of a duck race, everyone buys a duck and then they are all put into the river and whichever duck gets across the finish line first, wins the prize. Luckily they had a nice day for it, but everyone was tired and not up to cooking more, so out to eat we went! It was a nice change of pace.

In between lunch and supper was a nice little power nap!

Hello!!! Happy Monday!!!

Sorry I am late I totally lost track of the day here!!

What’s everyone’s motivation this week?

Personally I had 3.5 days of eating and drinking whatever I wanted and I need to get back to my normal routine! It was worth it and today has been a good day for eating, water and exercise!

I have my physical tomorrow…gasp! Hoping for good news! New doctor and a new practice because my old doctor closed! This is my husbands doctor who he really likes so I know I am in good hands.

I continue to pray for Florida today and I am hopeful for the best for everyone impacted. I felt like a jerk yesterday waiting in line for gas to fill my rental car while everyone else was busy filling their gas containers 😞 the sand bag stations were started when we were leaving yesterday. My heart hurts for those already impacted by Helene and those who will be impacted by Milton.

Also holding all those in Milton's path in my heart.... and those impacted by Helene last week as well.

All-in-all it took 30 hours to get home yesterday, and half of it was just waiting. When we were taxiing out to the runway on my last flight, the airbags popped out of the ceiling in the row behind me and we had to go back to the gate to have a mechanic fix it... thus started a chain of events that delayed our departure by four hours and added a stop midway to pick up new pilots because the ones we had had timed out. I ended up getting home at 3am, instead of 10:30pm. The good-ish news is that with my body clock being on London time I was fully awake for the drive.

And I am ever so excited to be home and to get back in the "normal" swing of things. That is my primary motivation for this week, but also to hang on to the refresh and inspiration from the trip.

Not sure what my motivation is as I have hit a bit of a block. Work has been meeting heavy so haven’t made it to the gym and I can feel that and don’t like it. Which is maybe good? I need to get back on track for sure

Struggled with motivation earlier today, but then got a bunch of things done in a burst.

Walking is on track for my goal in the exercise thread, but I should probably up it soon.

Have been in touch with family in Florida, and their preparations are in place. They're not near the coast, but it might still be pretty nasty, so they are taking it seriously.

Happy Tuesday!!!! As I head out to my yearly physical I thought this would be a good topic for Tuesday!

How consist are you with your yearly physical/bloodwork ect….?

I find I am good with yearly appointments but when I am to go to a specialist or something out of the ordinary I am not too good with keeping appointments! I need to get better at that!! Starting today!

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Good topic - I have to see my doctor every 6 months as I'm on some kind of thyroid medicine - we do blood work before each appointment. I also do yearly well-woman and mammogram appointments. I slacked on those for about 3 years in a row quite a few years ago. It made it hard to go back because I didn't want to get lectured on why I hadn't done them lol, so I vowed to just do them every year.
