My daughter will be doing BBB next week. We've been there before but it was several years ago and I'm pretty sure the hairstyles have changed. I think they are using a donut for buns now? Does anyone have any pics of the current hairstyles offered? TIA.

Just watched one and you are right, they are using the donuts for the buns now- LAME!! It looked so much better before when they did the buns the other way. They are also using hair nets now on the buns :(

DH and I were just talking about this yesterday. We will be forgoing the BBB on DD's first trip, and I am working on planning something a little more...realistic. Maybe doing the kid's spa package at GF, or seeing about a fun hair/makeup experience to come to the hotel...I may even pamper her myself! :upsidedow I just feel like the options at BBB are exceptionally cheesy and I want to do something with an ACTUAL realistic princess feel.

My youngest daughter had her princess experience back in 2013. My daughter is bi-racial but her hair is extremely long and the texture is more caucasian then anything else but the fairy godmother still had the most difficult time getting the bun done. She kept putting her hair up and taking it down and putting it up and taking back down. This happened at least 4 or 5 times, so much so that my oldest was like "mum do you think you should step in and just do Lizzybeth's hair yourself?". I told her no that there could be a number of reasons as to why she was having a difficult time with the bun, maybe it was the length of my daughter's hair (it's at her waist), texture (it does have a slight curl to it), maybe she was new and was nervous or maybe she wanted to make sure it was just right and looked it's best. Either way the amount of time she spent on it was more than most other fairy godmothers. Once it was done it did look very nice and we all were pleased so I never complained, I just felt bad because I thought of the other families who were still waiting to have their experience. The donut bun may be a way of doing the bun quicker therefore speeding up the entire process and being able to schedule more appointments.

In 2015 my daughter did the Pirate Makeover where she was a Mermaid Princess and the cast member was a Hispanic woman who mentioned that my daughter had hair similar to her own daughter's hair and so I think she had more experience and was able to quickly do her hair and move on to the makeup and other things. This year my daughter is going back to the Pirate Experience since she will officially be 13 for this trip and is no longer eligible for the princess make over at BBB and she is doing the Pirate Empress option. I'm not sure what that hairstyle is so I'll look on Youtube to see if there are any examples.

Ok, so I just looked and it appears that since there is a bandanna involved in the Pirate Empress then there is no "official" hairstyle and they may just brush it out and put on the bandanna. Essentially I'm paying 50 bucks for a bandanna, makeup, and a hook. *eyeroll* Well, I guess this is what vacations are for - the experience. I'll look back on this when she's 17 and no longer thinks dress up is cool and say "where did my princess/empress go"??? LOL

What was the Mermaid Princess look? My DD loves mermaids (as do I)

Pirate/mermaid package is cheaper and they don't use a ton of hair spray etc. My DD had the BBB done years ago and she could not wait to get that stuff out of her hair. Made her scalp itch.

My daughter's hairstyle was more like a side part and then on one side of her head the cast member did several rows of hair twists(think Bo Derek in 10 but instead of braids it was twists) and secured the twist with tiny hair elastics and she put a pretty decorative flower on that side. The flower changed colors as well. The rest of my daughter's hair was brushed and left to flow. It was very pretty and there wasn't a whole lot of hairspray involved to make my daughter's hairstyle last for several days like I've seen on here that some of the little ones who have BBB makeovers are able to do. Now we didn't see that as a downside because my daughter was able to shower the next morning and wash everything out of her hair and wear her hair like she normally would.

Thanks everyone, my 2 boys have Pirates League appointments but daughter really wants BBB. (She says she will try the PL mermaid on our next trip.) She is planning to be Belle and wants her hair to look like Belle's so I was hoping they offered something similar? I've looked at Youtube videos but haven't been able to find any that include all the choices? I was hoping someone had a recent photo of the choices they give you when you check in.
