Anyone have a freckle on the bottom of their feet?

I don't, but I do have freckles on the palms of my hands/undersides of a couple of fingers, which are also supposed to be very rare. I'm very freckley, though, and they've never changed and have been there for years, so I'm not too worried.

I have a mole, flat on my left foot in the middle of my foot. I have had it forever.
Good Luck at the Dr. :)

Me too-same foot/same place!

I used to work for a dermatologist, so I'm completely over-vigilant about sunscreen/sun protection and checking my family's moles for changes....

I have to go bi-annually for full body mole checks now since last year I had one removed from my shoulder that was mildly atypical.

That being said, my dermatologist hates the one on the bottom of my foot and measures it every time I go. She's had me get a 2nd opinion twice now (so I guess that would mean a 3rd opinion :rotfl: ) from the dermatological surgeons that visit the office. Both times the surgeons have told me that it's the most benign looking mole they've ever seen :) and they wouldn't want to biopsy/remove it because of the area it's in (close to the ball of my foot) since the skin in that area is very difficult to heal up. For now, I'll just have it measured every 6 months and if it does change at all, I'm sure my derm will insist they remove it :thumbsup2

Hope you have gotten some peace of mind from the other posters here..... the internet can be a scary thing when looking up medical diagnosis'... BTDT too often! :rolleyes1 Good luck!!!

today I noticed a new freckle on the same foot

Isn't the reason you looked it up because of the NEW freckle?

Have you been in the sun with the soles of your feet pointing up recently? If so, OK, just a new mark from the sun. If not, I might get it checked out. But my ancient, skilled, awesome (he wears the most incredibly beautiful wingtip shoes, and he's always in a suit!) dermatologist is just about my fave heathcare provider ever, so I might be biased, thinking that you'd get to go see someone like my derm. :)

I get new/more freckles on my arms all the time...but that's when I'm in the sun (even with sunscreen/block on). The bottoms of my feet...I'd be weirded out if something new appeared there!

If you've had it for a long time, and there's been no change, I would assume it's just a freckle. A rare freckle! You should be proud!

Could be a small birth mark too. I know a couple people with birthmarks on their feet, my sister being one of them. Not sure what the difference between birthmarks and freckles is aside from size though.

:thumbsup2 Although I know my DS10 has one on the palm of his hand. He had a little teeny tiny black dot when he was born on the palm of his hand, I asked the doctor about it & he said it was fine. It wasn't raised or anything, flat like a freckle. The black dot has spread when he has grown and poor thing looks like he has a dirty palm most of the time. I cringed when Mary Poppins looked at their hands to see if they were clean at a breakfast when we went. I'm thinking, she probably thought "eww..that boy needs to wash his hands".

It's a faded brown/blotch more than anything else now. I don't know if it will continue to fade & spread as he grows more. I did have a freckle that my mom tried to wash off when I was little & that freckle is almost invisible now (you can still see it if looking closely). I would think that would be the difference between a birthmark & freckle. If it had just been a freckle, I don't think it would have spread flat like it did.

So, if you have had the freckle forever and it hasn't changed in any way, shape or form then I think you are good. Internet can be dangerous for these type of look-ups -- just about anything has dire reports.

My doctor said to have them removed...and I did....I had problems before with moles. But...of course, they were fine!

Yes I looked it up because of the NEW freckle. I knew (or thought) freckles on feet are rare, so when I saw the new one it kind of made me think "is this normal?".......which is why I googled it. I have the appt. with my derm. and I'll see what she says. It is very small and even colored and round. I would never even worry about it if it was a new freckle on my body because it looks totally normal. I don't really lay in the sun, but swim all summer so it could be from sun exposure. And I have tons of freckles.

I have a freckle on the bottom of my foot that I've had forever....pretty sure I showed my Dermatologist it and she said normal. Well today I noticed a new freckle on the same foot, normal shape/color. For the heck of it I google "freckle on feet" and now I'm scared.......every site talks about melanoma on the bottom of feet and it's not common to have freckles/moles on the bottom of your feet. I made an appt today, but of course can't get in for 2 weeks. So I'm trying not to imagine the worst...but I'm a worry-wart. Anyone know anything about this?

NEVER NEVER NEVER google anything medical, it just scares the crap out of you. for what it is worth, i have a freckle and so does my DD in the exact same spot. both of us have, for me as long as I can remember and DD same thing. Have your Dr check it again, or call them and see what they say. But I have never heard of a freckly on the bottom of the foot being uncommon.
