I have a freckle on the bottom of my foot that I've had forever....pretty sure I showed my Dermatologist it and she said normal. Well today I noticed a new freckle on the same foot, normal shape/color. For the heck of it I google "freckle on feet" and now I'm scared.......every site talks about melanoma on the bottom of feet and it's not common to have freckles/moles on the bottom of your feet. I made an appt today, but of course can't get in for 2 weeks. So I'm trying not to imagine the worst...but I'm a worry-wart. Anyone know anything about this?

No, I haven't heard anything about it being a bad sign or anything. But I know my DS13 has had a freckle on the bottom of his foot since birth. We've always called him freckle foot. LOL

If you've had it for a long time, and there's been no change, I would assume it's just a freckle. A rare freckle! You should be proud!

Could be a small birth mark too. I know a couple people with birthmarks on their feet, my sister being one of them. Not sure what the difference between birthmarks and freckles is aside from size though.

I actually have one on each foot, in the same spot on my heel...weird that they are rare! I have had mine since birth, stayed the same and are most certainly freckles.

i have one on the arch of my foot, close to the bottom of my foot than the top. have always had it

DGD has one, she's had it since birth. The dr's told my DD22 it was not a big deal.

My dd has one on the 2nd toe.. its the only freckle she has. She's had it for a VERY long time if not from birth...

I have one in the middle of the underside of my left foot,I always have! I also have one in the middle of the toe next to my big toe on my left foot.

I have one on the bottoms of both my feet, almost in the same spot. I need to go and see a dermatologist and get the rest of my moles looked at soon, never really thought about what was lurking under my feet!

My son has one -- I'm not sure if it's a freckle or a mole that's smushed flat, but it appeared basically overnight when he was 7. I asked the pediatrician and she told me that the thinking used to be that any moles on hands and feet needed to be removed, but the new thinking is to treat them like any other mole -- his had regular boundaries, wasn't growing, and didn't have any other "danger" signs so they had us watch and see, so far (he's 11) nothing.

It was weird to me that it wasn't there, and then the next time I looked it was.

Thanks guys! I feel much better. All the searches I did made it sound like it's really rare to have one on your foot. I should have learned my lesson by now about searching for medical stuff on the internet.

I have a mole, flat on my left foot in the middle of my foot. I have had it forever.
Good Luck at the Dr. :)

My son and I both have a similar freckle in about the same location on the palms of our hands. We'll press them together and say, "Freckle power!" :rotfl:

Um...okay, so that has nothing to do with your question, OP, but thought I'd share. :goodvibes

You're right about turning to Dr. Google -- he can freak you out sometimes!

My dermatologists said that feet and hands are the places to really watch on women. They are the places that new freckles could mean something. I'd get it checked. The place for men is their backs.

I have one on the ball of my right foot, actually it's closer to where the arch starts. I have had it for as long as i can remember. I had skin cancer 3+ years ago (on my nose) and the doctor checked every mole, freckle and birth mark and said every thing looked fine (and still does. checked again a couple of months ago).
