I was at Costco yesterday and they had Samantha. Comes with two outfits for $119. Also had pets (dogs) and a horse. The horse was $49.

They also have a Bitty Baby set that contains the doll (several different hair and eye color choices) and several accessories for $99.

The new management at AG is looking to get the merchandise into more people's hands to hook them and make the brand more accessible. They have AG at Costco, Girl of the Year, Wellie Wishers and crafts at Kohl's, and Truly Me and Wellie Wishers at select Toys R' Us.

My TRU had the Wellie Wishers and Truly me in October but stock has been slim and doesn't appear as if it will be replenished. Last week they moved journey dolls into the spots previously held by AG and the AG section had dwindled to a handful of items.

We picked up a Wellie wisher 2 weeks ago and had 2 choices (all of them were there in late October). A few days later they were down to 1 choice and on Friday they had I think only 1 of them on the shelf!

It's an hour to get to the AG store and quite an ordeal - so having them so accessible definitely is the reason we purchased it this year!! DD is 6. She is all about dolls and accessories - but is perfectly happy with the generic dolls so we were postponing 'the ordeal' until we had too!

I think AG is trying to get their brand into more stores because of brands like Our Generation that are less expensive and more available coming into the market. I'm so glad I saved all of my American Girl Dolls from when I was little for when I have kids.

Our Costco was sold out of all AG stuff long ago. I agree with posters that state AG is trying to hook more buyers with allowing inventory into places like Costco.

Our closest AG store is 2 1/2 hours away so I love the Kohl's option for Lea (local toys r us that carries is still almost a mm hour drive too!) only downfall is not getting my AG rewards but I have been buying other things and getting Kohl's cash and although you can't use any discounts you can use Kohl's cash to purchase them! Only watch - I grabbed an accessories box and didn't check it only to get home and find I bought an empty box!! Luckily the manager was very helpful in correcting

Has anyone seen the $100 AG gift cards for $79.99 at their costco recently? They had them a few months ago and last christmas but I have been checking every week with no luck.

I personally wouldn't buy the Samantha set at costco, The party dress that comes with it doesn't exists on AG's site. (It almost seems like when big names stores make things specifically or the outlets) It also doesn't come with the doll box or boxes or the clothes.
I'm not saying don't buy it, I just wanted people to realize what they are buying.

AG has discontinued the GC sales at Costco. The dress included in the Samantha set is an exclusive and is only available through the Costco set. The Samantha set is a fantastic deal and there is no difference in quality to what you would buy direct from AG. Rumor is that Samantha will go back into the archives so AG is selling off overstock like they did with Caroline before she retired last year.

I think the Samantha looks really cute at Costco and the price is good. My store still has lots of Samantha and bitty babies. It's sad to hear that Samantha would go away as the old ones are the best, in my option, with the best stories.

That stinks that they discontinued selling the gift cards there. The 20% off with the gift cards made the dolls/accessories so much more affordable. Thanks for the info. When they sold caroline there (that's where I bought my daughters) it included the doll box & the box for the extra dress. it isn't important to everyone that the boxes aren't included but it matters to me. I have kept all the doll/accessories boxes for my daughters collection so when she outgrows them, I can store them in them.

I heard people were returning the Caroline dolls in the boxes to American Girl stores to get full price back. So they stopped including the box so you can't do that any longer. Not sure if it's true, but it sure sounded plausible when I read that.

I prefer the boxes as well, but for a great discount I'll improvise. I know I have a doll hospital box stashed away I can use instead.
