Airmiles Armchair Chatter

I dislike chasing missing airmiles and I'm sure I'm out $100+in airmiles every year because of it. Because of the upcoming redemption bonus, I just reported my missing BMO Costco airmiles from Sept 6-8 and the system awarded them immediately. Very surprised! I'm used to waiting a few days for an email, then providing proof before seeing anything. Thought I'd mention for those that have a month or so to wait for missing miles. YMMV.

Submission email I received as soon as I hit the submit button and airmiles were instantly in the account:

How often are Costco airmiles supposed to post?

I shop ever week there , and some months I get 1 airmiles posting and other months 3-4 postings .

I seem to get them posted about 5 days after my shop. I just compared my MC account to my AM account and that seems to be the sweet spot.

Hi Everyone! Very new member here. I have been diligently accumulating AM since January and have more than enough to cover our Hopper passes for our upcoming December trip. I have heard I can put the value of the Hopper passes towards annual passes and pay the difference- has anyone done this before?

We will be at DW during the holidays so would need IncrediPasses, not just Sorcerer.... am I better to redeem AM during the 30% back promo on the Hopper passes that I need for this trip and then use AM for Hopper passes and upgrade to Sorcerer passes next trip?

Apologies if this post is confusing. I am confused myself.

Welcome and great question.
I am sure others will be able to help you a little more specifically but my experience with Disney swapping out, upgrading and re-issuing has always been a positive one. However I have not done what you are describing. I would call and ask. If you get a CM who doesn't know, ask to talk to someone else who might or call back.

If I was you would order the Disneyworld Canadian Resident tickets with air miles for your Dec trip, take advantage of the 30 percent offer and use these tickets for your trip before upgrading to an annual pass on the last day of your park tickets.

Remember annual passes have to make park reservations for every day unless it is a good to go day. Dated tickets do not need to make park reservations

Then if you are blue card DVC I would upgrade to the Sorcerer Pass. There is a ticketing office at Disney Springs we prefer to use. I also have had great customer service calling the Ticket phone line.

Good luck and enjoy your holiday

It's been a while since Shell offered Amazon GC's for AM's. I purchased a $50 GC the other day, but it was at a Shell station with a Circle K store, so I wasn't sure if I'd get the AM's or not. I did get 20 AM's, but it was thru the Shell non-fuel offer, plus the Go+ offer. I've attached a picture of what I got. I can't remember if this is how they give you the AM's for purchasing GC's or not. Can someone let me know if I should still be waiting for 20 more AM's or not?

Assuming your holidays are during the Canadian ticket blockout dates and Sorcerer DVC blue blockout dates and the goal is to pay as little as possible:

Two suggestions:

1. Get a quote from onyx shopper for the incredipasses and not pay anything. However, They will charge you a shopper fee (in airmiles) and you won't get the 1500 airmiles 30% back.

or

2. Purchase the most expensive ticket on airmiles to maximize airmiles spent for the tickets. Note during 30% promo the max you will get back is 1500 airmiles per collector and the tickets require paying about $50 in taxes, not sure why. Purchase the balance of what the annual pass is in gift cards. Some people cash in airmiles when they shop and put the savings towards Disney gift cards to pay for their trip. You can cash in airmiles during the 30% promo and earn another 111 airmiles. Then call Disney to upgrade, pay with gift cards ... or wait until you get there.

I have yet to see a report of someone not being able to upgrade so option 2 should work. Option 1 is completely safe and will pay your annual passes in full, option 2 more work but cost effective.

Note some people also do option 3, stick to cash, cash in airmiles for other things ie. vouchers, gas, then use savings to to pay for tickets.

.... and Welcome! :)

Edit: rereading this, you are considering purchasing AM hoppers twice, upgrading the second set vs incredipass purchase??. I would be surprised if this is your cheapest option but haven't priced it out. I believe the loophole of using Hopper tickets for days not valid for Sorcerer pass then upgrading to Sorcerer pass at end has been long closed. Not sure though but info should be on the ticket threads. Sorry for confusion.

Yeah, so mine never posted right away, just got 20 AM the other way. Do you think it's because it was a Circle K store rather than an official Shell store? Should I even try to chase those miles? I know I'd have to wait 2 weeks.

Well, today was the day I had to change how I logged in online to get into my airmiles account. I could not longer skip the option to just log in with my account number and pin.

Dh has been researching vacation spots for a warm winter vacation.

We had been hoping Mexico - but have heard from several different people and different circles that have reported that the violence from drug gangs is horrible right now. Most vehicles carrying tourists are being followed with military guards and vehicles to their resorts. So we are looking at other options. Thinking Punta Cana - no to Jamacia, Costa Rico, and Cuba.

So off to dream and see what I can find using our AM - unless we decide to keep them for our Disney trip with gd in 2026.

Cant beat Hawaii! Actually depending on when you want to go, there are some fanastic airfares right now.
We've looked at it!!! It's on our bucket list of places to go. When we go - we want at least 2-3 weeks and right now, that's not possible with dh's work. And with the $$$ being soooooooooo horrible right now, I'm willing to wait and see what happens to our $$$ in a year or two.

Airfares may be cheap - but hotels, food, car rental and everything else will add up quickly. Our bank account is still healing from paying off the cc from our Orlando trip

We are heading off to Punta Cana next Monday. We are returning in January. It really is a nice spot.

Absolutely, but there are many many ways to make a Hawaii trip a similar price to a week long all inclusive. The problem is most people don't want to travel that far and stay for only a week. Like you said, you would probably want to stay longer. I totally get that, I never want to leave when I go. But there are ways like renting DVC points to stay at a gorgeous resort like Aulani or using Redweek to rent a timeshare resort that end up being very cost effective. I think one of the things that people do is say to themselves that a Hawaii trip is a once in a lifetime event and then spend waaaay to much.
I am sure you will find someplace to travel to that will be warm and sunny, happy hunting!

So inquiring minds are wondering.
Have we ever not had a special promo going into Black Friday?
Just wondering.
