A Tip About Connecting Verandahs on the Dream

Hi - new poster here! I spent a lot of time here getting very valuable information prior to my recent Disney cruise. Thanks so much.

We had a couple of questions about connecting verandahs before sailing that I never did find the answer to, although that certainly could have been due to a search failure on my part! In any case, I thought I'd post our post-cruise veranda experience in the hopes that it might help someone else.

We had 4 veranda staterooms in a row on deck 10 of the Dream - 10546 connected with 10548 and 10550 connected with 10552. As Disney states on their website and has been reported on these boards already, the verandahs of the connecting staterooms had partitions that could be opened by the stateroom host to create a larger balcony. The half of the partition closest to the rail folds back.

We were hoping that we would be able to open the partition between 10548 and 10550 as well - which would connect all 4 of our verandahs together. Sadly, this was not possible. As far as we could tell, every other partition up on deck 10 is solid to the edge and does not fold back. (Since I'm new, I'm unable to post a picture that shows this, sorry!) ETA: I added a picture in post #4.

It looked to us like this was NOT the case on the lower decks. Which would mean that even non-connecting staterooms can have connecting verandahs. Hopefully someone with experience can post to verify. So if you'd like three or more verandas to connect on the Dream - deck 10 is not the place to be!

Thanks for posting this! We are cruising in oct with three cabins in a row, two of which are connecting. We are on deck 9. I knew we could open the verandah with the connecting rooms but I was hoping we would also be able to open the verandah for the third room too.

We are on deck six in room 6192 and as far as I know, this room and 6190 have connecting balconies. I know nothing about other rooms...I will be taking pictures when I am on board on the 28th :)

I think I have enough posts now to include my picture...

The partition circled in green below was the one that did NOT open between my stateroom (10550) and my sister's next door (10548). The red/pink circle to the left shows the open partition between the verandahs of connecting staterooms 10550 and 10552.

Down on deck 7 it looks like there were 4 open partitions in a row - meaning 5 staterooms were able to enjoy one large verandah!

We just returned and were on deck 7. When we first got to our stateroom- the balcony was still "open" from the previous cruise between us and the nonconnecting stateroom beside us. So- it can definietly happen for some rooms. Our room steward immediately closed it as we did not know the people staying next door.

This is VERY disappointing to hear. We have 6 connecting rooms on deck 10 (10620-10630) and we were hoping to have all the verandahs open up so we could go back and forth when the kids are sleeping at night.

Does anyone know about those rooms?

You found it. Sorry for the confirmation. When do you sail?

ETA; So it looks like you can only have two cabins with connecting verandas on deck 10, assuming you pick the right two. I thought it was every 4 or 6.

This pic is from Deck 7. They had 6 connecting verandah's right next to ours. I took the pic of the rainbow, but it will work perfectly to illustrate it can happen on certain decks.

We were on the Dream in May, travelling in a group with three rooms. Two of the rooms connected inside. We were on Deck 5 and able to connect all 3 verandas...

We sail Oct 3. I sent an email to our TA to confirm or see if she can find something on the starboard side (want to see CC!) all together on deck 9. We really wanted connecting verandas so the ladies can hang out after kids are in bed and let the dads do whatever. :)

Did this mean that the wall of your partion went completely from floor to ceiling with no gap under it or to the top ?....we used to love these types of verandah on the Magic as it felt a little more private...on one side at least !:goodvibes

...I was wondering if there are any such verandahs on the Dream/ Fantasy...perhaps between cabin cats. :confused3

We just got off and were on deck 5, and we had 3 rooms in a row, and were able to connect the balanconies. It was wonderful. However, we had a friend in a room 2 down from us, and their balcony would not have connected with the room on the right (looking at the ship).

This is the first I have heard of this. Could you share these cabin #'s and any more details you recall. TIA

Heads up! Sometimes workers open these dividers. My daughter and I were on the dream last summer and we had an aft room off the very rear of the ship. Imagine my surprise coming out of the bathroom after my shower to find a man on the veranda looking in at me. Luckily I was wearing a towel. I had noticed a sign on the outside of a cabin several doors away that said work was underway on the verandas, but really wasn't expecting to find someone on ours. He was opening these dividers and moving his away around.

I was sad to read elsewhere that the verandahs on the Magic and Wonder do not connect as they do on the Dream and Fantasy. Can someone please confirm that is the case?
